Here is another bargain-hunting find in Berlin! It’s TJ MAXX under a slightly differen’t name. So if you are looking for a branded item for a much cheaper price or a quality investment piece, this is a great place to look before going to another store and buying it full-price! Sizing is limited to whatever they have on display, but for an Asian in Europe like me, it’s a dream!
TK Maxx is part of the TJX Companies Inc. group, the largest off-price retail companies in the world. This includes about 2,000 stores in the U.S. and Canada, more than 300 in the UK, Ireland, Germany and Poland.
At TK Maxx, you will find top brands and designer fashion in the fields of women, men, kids, accessories and shoes, as well as an exciting selection of home accessories always up to 60% cheaper *. About 90% of the goods which originates from current collections.
For basic pieces, I prefer to go to H&M or to Primark, but I found that when looking for pieces that will be used again and again in tougher weather conditions, then it’s good to invest in a high quality piece. TK Maxx has great quality brands in unbelievably discounted prices.
We found an amazing leather jacket for TD (I admit I am slightly envious haha) It was one of those shopping moments… I was quickly scanning the men’s rack and all at once I saw this gorgeous rich caramel brown classic leather jacket cut and felt this butter soft lamb leather on my fingertips. I thought, “Now THIS is a jacket!” I just knew it was going to be fabulous! When TD tried it on, everything was perfect! The faux fur trimming is detachable, making it wearable in slightly warmer weather and the front pockets are in the perfect place.
The price cannot be beat for the quality. The Milestone Jacket SRP/UVP was €449.95, but in TK Maxx it was marked down to €89.99. SCORE! I really appreciate TD for being patient in posing for a few photos for my blog.
The choices are limited to whatever is on display and it’s kinda crazy, even on weekdays. High end brands are strewn all over the floor with the frenzy of shoppers. So it’s really thrilling when you find design + size + quality all in one piece!
Here is my own Fall-find, a preppy Club Monaco poncho! If I recall correctly they were 50-80 euros. I love the classic cut and lines. It feels modern, fresh and chic – the opposite of a Western-movie-granny-knitted-poncho. The luxe mix of cashmere, lambs wool and rabbit hair feels delicious to touch, warm without being too thick. I found a picture of it on Polyvore..
Other things I love browsing through at TK Maxx is their selection for…
- outdoor/extreme weather water/wind proof gear
- fitness super cute colors of kettlebells, wrist & ankle weights
- shoes boots galore!
- bags Leather handbags for as low as €20
- hats Raffaello Bettini wool felt hats from Italy from €80 down to €17
- beauty products TIGI Bed Head hair products, Baylis & Harding luxury bath products!
- Gold label brands Gucci bags carelessly slung on racks & Carolina Herrera coats from €2500 to €200
- Home Le Creuset bakeware, beautiful copper pots & pans, Zyliss, Jamie Oliver & Kuhn Rikon kitchen accessories
I haven’t gone crazy and looted the place them, but it’s nice to know that when there is a special occassion or I want to treat/reward myself for something (like my hopefully successful diet haha!) I can go over to TK Maxx and get something high quality and luxe for a mere fraction of the price!
The haphazard and incomplete selection is part of the fun TK Maxx experience. It’s like a treasure hunt! I also make sure to check the product for defects before bringing it the counter. Items can be returned within 14 days of purchase for those with buyer’s remorse. *wink*
Have you ever been to TK MAXX or TJ MAXX? I’d love to hear about your bargain finds!
Let me leave you with the look I’m currently lusting for….
