We were invited to TD’s best friend’s wedding in the Temple of Poseidon at Cape Sounion so we had the pleasure of going outside of Athens and enjoy the beach! It’s only a 50minute drive from Athens & can also be a daytrip destination from the capital.
We stayed in Aegeon Beach Hotel which has an amazing view of the Temple. It’s our second trip to Greece and I’m really loving so many things about this beautiful country so I’m sharing my top 10 #DiploPicks in Greece.
1. BODY LOVE BEACH

I love how everybody is a beach body in Greece. Even the grandmas wear bikinis and nobody cares what shape or size they are. So body positive.
2. ANCIENT RUINS

The modern city co-exist with ruins and structures that are about 2500 years old. It’s just so amazing to be in the presence of so much history. And I honestly don’t know how they created such huge and exact monuments with the tools they had at that time! Just mind boggling!
3. BREAKFAST WITH A VIEW

We stayed in a great hotel in Sounio – 50mins drive from Athens – called Aegeon Beach Hotel that was not only beach front but also had a view of the Temple of Poseidon. I felt like pinching myself. It was just breathtaking!
4. FRESH SEAFOOD DOUSED WITH LEMON

We ate in this restaurant with a blue roof right beside our beautiful hotel and the grilled seafood was just unbelievably fresh & yummy. It was doused in their local lemons! It’s served with french fries and as a rice-loving Filipino, I definitely wish I had some fluffy hot white rice to go with it. It was still foodgasmic though!
5. SALADS, SALADS & SALADS

Greece has the freshest and yummiest salads. Normally it’s more of a chore or grudgingly trying to be healthy when we order salad when we are eating out. But the salads in Greece are unbelievably fresh and tasty, with generous heapings of their feta cheese and olive oil. We practically inhale the salads!
6. HANDMADE MODERN JEWELRY

My favorite thing to shop for in Greece are their ultra modern and chic gold plated copper jewelry. They are just so artistically made and so modern. Just like the necklace pictures. I always get compliments when I’m wearing my Greek jewelry because of their distinct architectural qualities.
7. GREEK WEDDINGS

You know that famous movie about a Greek Wedding? Well we felt like we were living it. It was my first time to attend a Greek Orthodox Wedding and the church was very ornate. I was prepared for the heat with a gigantic fan which I recommend if you are going to Greece in the summer. Coz it’s hot, hot, hot!I loved how clean, classy yet so comfy all the outfits were of the kids and how much fun it was with all the dancing!
8. FRIED CHEESE, HONEY & BACON

if you have the chance to order this dish, Go. For. It. OMG soooo delicious! With all those ingredient, how can you go wrong.
9. GREEK LEATHER SANDALS

Another favorite thing of mine to shop for in Greece are greek sandals of course! They are made with real leather, which makes them last longer than pleather footwear. Aren’t they gorgeous. I usually get the thong style in gold and rose gold. I still have the sandals I bought from this trip, 4 years after! They used to be only 10-15 Euros each. Many of my girlfriends asked me to buy for them!
10. NATURAL PRODUCTS

I love how conscious they are of using natural ingredients for their hotel products. I love Korres and if you go to any pharmacy there is a lot of natural products to choose from.
