JAKARTA EATS: Seribu Rasa

February 23, 2011

Over the holidays we had dinner with our fab friend Ted and his visiting Mom and Sister at Seribu Rasa Restaurant.

Seribu Rasa means “One Thousand Flavors” and is owned by the same owners of Penang Bistro (which we love too!). It is no wonder everything we had was excellent. I hope I got the names right because didn’t really get to take notes this time since we were busy chatting with everyone. Here are pics of the yummy food and the gorgeous interiors! More pictures after the jump below.

I love the lamps in the entrance of Seribu Rasa RestaurantI love the lamps in the entrance! If I am not mistaken these are contraptions the locals used to use for catching fish!

Dessert

Dessert: Es Campur (literally means ‘mixed ice') which is their version of the Filipino Halo-Halo.

Es Campur: The ice cubes (more like shaved ice) float in a mangkok (bowl) filled with milk, coconut shavings, avocado, nangka(jackfruit) and several kinds of jelly. Read more on Es Campur here.

Place settings

I loved how they had Christmas decoration that was completely harmonious with the ethnic theme of the restaurant.

Christmas Tree

Gorgeous Christmas tree - so creative!

By the entrance they ha this interesting display of local cookware and pottery

More exquisite use of local/ethnic materials as decoration in the courtyard.

It’s too bad I didn’t get to take a picture of the gardens and pond in the back with the private dining areas… they were so beautiful as well!

I have been looking for the information about this place since I hear from some friends that this is a good place! I didn’t know that Seribu Rasa is owned by the same owners as Penang Bistro! One of the owners is actually my friend from high school and I have not tried his restaurant yet. It’s on top of my to-do list though… I will have to go check out Penang Bistro soon!!

[…] Seribu Rasa. love the posh interiors! Surprisingly reasonable if you eat as a big group (i.e. Last time we ate there, we were 6pax, and we ended up paying Rp 170,000 each) […]
