I’ve long been frustrated by the light-sucking black covers of our electronics that have not yet caught on to the Apple-evolution of aluminums, whites and golds.
TVs, soundbars and speakers are still ugly black boxes that have not caught up with the trends of recent years. This is why I always try to figure out ways to make them blend with my #whiteliving space.
CREATING A BLACK & WHITE GALLERY WALL AROUND THE TV
In our bedroom, I always have a black and white photo wall and arrange the gallery around the TV frame so the TV frame is part of the photo wall. This is how it looked in Berlin:
I have yet to adjust one of the signs which was covered when we upgraded the size of our tv 3 years ago. But you get what I mean by trying to make it blend with the gallery wall.
FINDING A WHITE TV
In our living room I was able to find a 48inch white Samsung TV in Berlin for 600 Euros. White TVs are not available here in the Philippines, but much you can definitely find white TVs on Amazon and in Europe, because DiploBigBro was able to get a white curved TV in Switzerland, where he is based. He is also a Diplomat. The 2nd out of 3 diplomats in their family.
This is how it looks in our white living room. Doesn’t the white border make a huge difference?
In the past few years though, Samsung created a beautiful TV that is definitely a hybrid of technology and art called The Frame. The earlier versions did not fare so well in terms of quality, but the 2020 The Frame is highly rated.
This gamechanger is a high-quality television combined with a digital art/photo frame. When not used as a TV, the screen can display your family photos in rotation or gorgeous works of art! This piece is a work of art in combining technology and design.
Let me show you some more photos that will have you drooling. It doesn’t even look like a TV anymore. And I love the white remote control! This type of remote is so intuitive!
They have some free pieces of art like the one below, but if you want to have rotating masterpieces, they have a subscription for Php200+ per month.
It has ambient mode which has motion sensors that can detect if there is a person in the room and show art. When there is nobody in the room the TV shuts off. Night mode – when there is no light in the room – also shuts the TV off.
They even have an easel stand that displays it like art. I’m a bit skeptical about this though, coz it can be pretty scary if you have children running around.
I am in no way affiliated with Samsung. I just want to share a fabulously designed product that I think will truly level up your space.
For a limited time only, it is on sale in Abensons (cheaper than Europe) and if you have a BPI card, you can get the sale price on 0% for 24months installment if you go to their store. Click for details:
My favorite Abensons to go to is the one in BGC because it’s totally deserted on weekends and it has free parking if you purchase something from Abensons or Habitat MNL.
