Hello! Welcome to (un) Diplomatic Wife.
This is a space where ladies can bravely be the candid, un-done versions of ourselves. Where we don’t have to be perfect partners, housewives and mamas.
I’ve long felt uncomfortable with the title of “diplomatic wife,” because it’s too much pressure to live up to. When in fact, I am just making it up and learning as I go along – through trial and lots and lots of error!
I’d like to be more raw, open and honest about my feelings and views – as an expat, homemaker, parent, life and travel hacker. Hence the un-doing and rebranding of The Diplomatic Wife to UnDiplomatic Wife. I hope you enjoy read along our nomadic and eye-opening lifestyle.
WHO IS DIPLO WIFE
I am Ayessa and in 2009 I launched expat blog, The Diplomatic Wife, where I shared food finds, travel tips, easy recipes, and practical homemaking hacks from Manila, Jakarta to Berlin, and back. I love discovering tricks on how to flourish in our crazy, nomadic, expat life without completely losing my marbles. (Well maybe, just some of them.)
When we moved with Diplo Baby and Diplo Dog to Manila in 2016, I temporarily retired from blogging, to focus on raising an infant while coping with the higher cost of living and the daily challenges in the most densely populated city in the world.
In August 2016, I founded the growing online community, Declutter MNL, wherein we coach members on decluttering best practices in Metro Manila.
In 2017 I founded the Minimaluxe lifestyle brand a hub for people who want to achieve a more minimalist, yet still luxurious, life.

Today I advocate creating a Minimaluxe lifestyle – mindful living, conscious consumption and simplicity parenting. I love all things white and gold, German sparkling water, chilly Autumn days and, most of all, bedtime stories and snuggles with my husband and toddler.
