JAKARTA EATS: Akane Japanese Restaurant

August 24, 2010

Thanks to LM for organizing a wonderful Saturday lunch with friends! We finally got to try their favorite Japanese Restaurant here in Jakarta, Akane, which is located at the Crowne Hotel, Gatot Subroto.

Burger in curry sauce

Burger in curry sauce – TBD (The Best Dish) of the meal! SOOOO good I am craving for it now just thinking about it! Would definitely come back if only for this dish!

We were a big group of 6 couples with 3 babies and 3 nannies. I didn’t get to take note of the names and prices this time – there was so much to catch up on so I just enjoyed the company and the food. I couldn’t help but take pictures though because everything looked spectacular.

Hubby and I shared a Burger Set (above) and a Sushi Set.

Akane Sushi Set

The Salmon Sushi was delicious and it literally melted in my mouth. The rest was good but nothing spectacular. The Miso Soup was not to my taste either, because I prefer the simpler variation with just onions, seaweed and tofu.

I definitely want to come back to have some more of their burgers meals and to try the grilled dishes! Here are the yummy looking dishes our friends had. Bento boxes and set meals start at Rp 75,000 – including Cyawan Mushi (traditional egg custard), Miso Soup, and salad/pickled veggies.

This beef ribs smelled really good. Hubby wants to try this next time!

Bentos include 3 small dishes and rice aside from the basic meal inclusions above.

The open kitchen - I love it when restos have this. I feel better knowing I can peep and see how my food is being prepared and how clean the kitchen is! LOL! =P

Thanks =D That’s the aim of my food photography! The problem is I get hungry too when I’m doing a post – especially late at night! It takes all my self-control not to get up at 3am and eat! LOL!

I think it’s worth going to Akane only for that hamburger. It’s absolutely amazing. However for fresh sushi, yummy miso soup, the hot stone steak and good Japanese food in general, I would say Sekitei is better. The lunch is so much cheaper than the dinner though, so that’s what I recommend. Right now though we have a new favorite Japenese Restaurant and I’m reviewing it on Friday so please watch out for it.
