Hi there! I am back from a super quick trip home! I’m enjoying the ginormous green mango my friend, Benj, gave us after our road trip to Batangas for a beach wedding. It’s grown in his own home, its organic and it’s as big as my face literally haha! (Click here to see proof!) Glad I bought some Bagoong (A Filipino shrimp paste condiment) in Manila to go with it. It’s how we traditionally eat green mangoes – the salty shrimps is the perfect contrast to the sour tangy taste of the mango! YUUUUUM!
Look at the size compared to my laptop!
Trips home are always tiring and harassing (but worth it) because we maximize every waking minute for check ups, spending time with family & friends. So now I am kicking back & relaxing as I am feeling under the weather.
That’s a tinee-tiny part of the mango and I was satisfied already! I had it with Dizon Bagoong which is sweeter that what I’m used to. I wish I also bought Barrio Fiesta Bagoong – I think I prefer it’s level of saltiness!
With a small portion of that massive mango + Bagoong while reading my Smile Magazines (you can keep them when you ride on Cebu Pacific Planes). It’s a great way for me to remember all those beach vacations that I had a plenty when I was based in Manila. (I swear I feel beach envy towards all my friends who seem to be going to the beach every few weeks! ARGH.) Today I’m gonna chillax. Tomorrow I start unpacking properly & organizing my loot.
Thanks again Benj & G for the super yummy gigantic green mango! I miss you guys already and this taste of home is soothing me. =)

Hello!! Good to know you are safe and sound. That Mango is humongous but looks yummy. I miss bagoong!
Incidentally, if you are holding the current issue of SMILE, I am featured in the Locals section — BKK page… My friend is the editor of that mag and is constantly looking for Pinoy locals in each country to feature. Can you recommend you??? Please…
I need to get my own copy for file:-)
Ooops sorry I meant, can I recommend you to be a local in Jakarta? I will send you the question form:-)
Hi Mia, surely! That would be cool. =) I’ll look for your feature, scan and email it to you!
I would love to have a look through those mags, pls.
Of course you can borrow them! Will bring them over when we have those martinis =)
WOW! Mango! I miss Philippine mangoes…I’m not brave enough to buy the ones from India. Yun ang madami dito e….
IKR?!? We have here from Thailand as well. But it’s not the same. How are the mangoes from India? Someone commented on this blog post that in his opinion the best mangoes in the world are from Alphonsoes (India), Harum Manis (Indonesia) and Rainbow (Thailand). I was sad that he didn’t have a good experience with mangoes in Manila because he just bought it in the supermarket – which I don’t even do because I am usually disappointed. If you see the Alphonsoes brand from India, please try it and let me know how it tastes? =)
