“It’s a store by the same company that owns H&M but totally different style, more European street style than trendy.” This is how Deepa of Currystrumpet first described & Other Stories to me, when she proposed that we check it out when we met up in Berlin. After I checked out their amazing website, my response was “Yes, please!”
I’ve passed by this store before on the way to H&M in Ku’damm but never thought of going in. I think I was intimidated by the facade of the beautiful building and probably though, “anything in there must be extremely expensive!” But boy am I glad that Deepa introduced me to this brand! The store is beautifully designed and merchandised! Everything is displayed to create this longing for the products on display. It’s more high-end than H&M for sure, and the few times that I’ve been, I’ve haven’t been attracted to the clothes yet. It’s the accessories, jewellery, shoes and bags that always get me drooling. When I first went with Deepa last July, I was sort of looking for a sturdy, casual bag I could sling on my shoulders to do errands around Berlin, hands-free. These 2 bags caught my eye. I even took TD to the store to have a look, but at that time we were (and we still are) spending a lot on our new home so a bag wasn’t a priority.

My husband and I usually don’t give each other surprise gifts for birthdays and Christmas. With our limited budget we figure it’s more practical to get what we need + plus a small inexpensive surprise gift, i.e. flowers. So when he asked me what I wanted for my birthday, I thought of the small practical bag in & Other Stories. I ended up getting the caramel one with the bracelet because I felt like it was more bang for our buck.
Crafted from smooth and python-embossed leather, this bag has a front strap that slips under a saddle-stitched detail. The cotton-lined interior has a python-embossed flap that opens to reveal a mirror, a large pocket and four card pockets. There are also two main compartments and three small front pockets. The gold hardware includes magnetic snap fasteners and slender gold d-rings inside the bag, which can be used to attach a slender leather strap or matching leather bracelet with saddle stitch detail. Dimensions: 23.5 x 14 x 3.5 cm. Strap length: 17.5 cm.
I can use it daily as a shoulder bag, in the evening as a clutch with the option to use the wristlet for an edgier look. 3 looks for the price of one! The quality of the leather and hardware is amazing and I love the pocket and mirror details. A great birthday gift – not too cheap and not too extravagant either!
Just wanna share with you other things I am lusting for from their store. I love the modern but whimsical look of the jewellery, but I wonder if they fade fast? I have really acidic skin and usually fashion jewellery that aren’t enamelled well are one use only for me. That’s why I ended up learning how to make my accessories myself. I love the bags though and I think that great quality leather is worth the investment… but definitely need to wait for another special occasion for a splurge!

The website is amazing and really exciting. I love the design aesthetic! What do you think of & Other Stories and my picks? I would love to hear from you.
