Just want to share with you a photoblog of the monuments we saw lit up in Berlin’s Festival of Lights 2013. It really is a great way for Berlin to welcome the cold season – it made Berliners and tourist alike bundle up and enjoy evenings outdoors. Photos (and videos!) I took after the jump! Enjoy.
We went the the Museum Island, Potsdamer Platz and Brandenburg Tor. We didn’t get to go out on the days that it rained though so we didn’t get to see as many as we liked.
BERLIN DOM – MUSEUM ISLAND
What a gorgeous view from the rooftop restaurant of the Humbolt Box. We were lucky because the Diplomatischer Stammtisch organized a viewing party with wine and delicious canapés. It was a lovely way to enjoy the lights of the Berlin Dom. Will do a separate post on the Diplomatischer Stammtisch soon.
BRANDENBURG TOR
The most famous of all Berlin monuments was impressive indeed.

The Adlon Hotel in front of Brandenburg Tor also had their facade lit up every few minutes.
There were many people in front of the Tor and I’m glad we made it there on the last night even if I was feeling sick. I just had to see it and it was worth the effort!

There were light horse-drawn carriages……and also light dogs haha – among many other activities going on.
POTSDAMER PLATZ

On the last night we also went to Potsdamer Platz. I loved it because they projected lights on the pavement and people could take their pictures with the light projection. I had to have my photo taken with Andy Warhol’s portrait of Ingrid Bergman.
On our way to the clubs we saw these amazing light benches.

Indeed I’ve fallen in love with Berlin!
I hope you enjoyed these pictures. If you want to see the rest of the pictures I took CLICK HERE.
