JAKARTA EATS: Christmas Lunch 2010

January 31, 2011

Okay I just realized that I didn’t even put up any posts on how we spent Christmas Day and New Years Eve! Somehow it got buried in all the other pictures I had and I never got to post them. Since my blog is my online journal, I am not doing a great job at journaling the holidays am I if I don’t put it up before January ends! So here goes!

Christmas Day Martini Brunch at The Ritz' Lobo Resto

No lechon =( there was turkey instead. Inset: baked potato because they ran out of mashed =(

Besides last Christmas was our first holiday away from home and family – it was quite a momentous event! And I am happy to say that we survived and even enjoyed it! Whoever said Christmas and New Year in Jakarta is said? We are lucky we have great friends to celebrate with – and we made new ones along the way too!

Sorry this is soooooo late but like I said… better late than never! Right! Right??? Thanks for understanding!

As part of Diplo Life, I guess we really have to learn to make holidays special, wherever we find ourselves in the world. You don’t always get to go home or have family present, but it’s up to us to still make celebrations special. This post I am sharing pictures of Christmas Martini Brunch at Lobo Restaurant at the Ritz Carlton Hotel. It’s basically the Christmas version of our favorite brunch buffet – the Lobo Martini Brunch. Click here to see pics of the Martinis they offer.

G & R's "zoolander" look - love this couple! So much fun!

Premium Butter... don't you just LOVE butter?

I had King Prawns with Aglio, Olio & Peperoncino.

The prawns were good but the Aglio, Olio & Peperoncino didn’t taste as good as it did the last time I ate it. I still prefer the steak!

All those glorious cheeses with crackers, grapes, etc. HEAVEN!

Lobo really outdid itself with the desserts!! I didn’t even get to post all the pics I took because this post is long enough as it is already! But my was it a christmas dessert wonderland!Christmas Day Martini Brunch at The Ritz' Lobo Resto

Christmas pudding - glorified fruit cake.

While we were eating we heard Christmas pudding in on of the carols and we began asking each other if anyone knew exactly what a Christmas pudding was. Since nobody new, Fab Ted asked one of the waiters. And instead of telling us, the chef whipped one up to show us what it was! Talk about star treatment! That’s what we get for being with Fab Ted! =P Now we know what it is!

It’s basically a glorified version of fruit cake. Since I am not fond of fruit cake,  this was obviously not my cup of tea, but if you do like fruit cake then this is a much more moist version!

While we were winding down our meal we noticed a guy (who probably had too many martinis) right outside our window…

He had fallen asleep with a cigarett in his hand! We were thinking the poor guy was gonna burn his fingers!

It was funny because when his family noticed, they didn't wake him up, but took pics w him instead! LOL!

We had a good laugh at that one! Before we parted ways, we took a group pic.

Group pic by the giant Christmas Tree. They also had this amazing gingerbread house by Lobo's entrance. Spectacular!

  • And the next 2 posts will be about how we spent our New Year’s Eve – wherein our numbers dwindled even more.

Hey! Stumbled upon your blog when I was looking for vanity table ideas in google. You’ve got a nice blog.. 🙂 I was based in Jakarta as well from 2006-2009 and now I’m back in Manila. Reading your blog makes me feel envious. I really miss the place. Enjoy your stay! 🙂
