JAKARTA EATS: Darmawangsa Hotel Birthday Cake and Chocolate Martini

September 13, 2012

I don’t really like celebrating my birthday nowadays. As I got older I became the total opposite of the girl who used to have 2-3 major bashes for her birthday each year… complete with printed invitations/flyers for all my party loving friends! I remember after 2 consecutive days of sponsored boozefests I would have to decline the offer of the 3rd club to sponsor my birthday because I would just be too tired to party. LOL – how far we have come!

Last year, I had quiet romantic dinner for 2 with TD at Lobo Restaurant at The Ritz Carlton. This year I began the day of my birthday by…

Meeting up with Lira at The Darmawangsa Hotel to learn more about their fabulous hotel after my wonderful Afternoon Tea experience. I finally got to sit at the gorgeous Caviar Lounge!

I had more of their delicious Dammann tea and she had a cappuccino. Don’t you love their tea display?

When she found out it was my birthday the staff were all so wonderful and immediately greeted Happy Birthday and shook my hands. I actually declined cake because I was full for breakfast but they insisted on a small piece so I could at least blow the candle and make a wish. So sweet! The cake was their special for September, green tea cake with raspberry cream filling. I finished it despite being full. =P #YUM

I enjoyed my morning with Lira so much that I was even late for my lunch date with TD afterwards! And I also asked for a reservation for two at The Library for pre-birthday-dinner cocktails at 530pm. I just had to try the Chocolate Martini I’ve been hearing so much about.majapahit hall

So after TD got out of work, we braved traffic to catch a cocktail before heading to dinner at Hotel Mulia. TD and I had our drinks at The Library, which I totally adore as well!

I had the famous Chocolate Martini and TD had the Espresso Martini. TD was happy with his choice but we both agree that the star really is the Chocolate Martini. It was strong but yummy… exactly how I like it! Well worth the price for me. I was feeling slightly buzzed after only one drink! We also loved the pica pica they served us.

Up next I will be posting photos of the unforgettable Chinese dinner buffet we had at Table8 of Hotel Mulia!
