Bosses Restaurant @ VivoCity Mall Singapore

April 10, 2010

As I was looking for a resto for dinner at VivoCity, I stumbled on many good reviews for Bosses Restaurant (especially the dimsum).

When we got to VivoCity, I was really hungry (no lunch yet). Hubby wasn’t because he got served a full meal on his flight. Not fair. We decided to eat something light so as not to spoil our appetite for dinner. I was looking at my cheat sheet of recommended restos in VivoCity when we saw Bosses near the entrance.  It was a sign.

Unfortunately it was already past 5pm so we couldn’t order dimsum anymore except for Xiao Long Bao. Curiously many places here don’t serve dimsum in Sing for dinner. Does anyone know why? Do drop me a note!

Yummy Wasabi Mayo Prawns & Xiao Long Bao

Ginseng & Oolong Tea and Crackling Fish Skin - so good hubby thought it was pork

  • Crackling Fish Skin – Complimentary appetizers was really good. No fishy taste like others I’ve tried before.
  • Wasabi Mayo Prawns – Perfectly cooked and nicely sized prawns, delicious wasabi-mayo flavor. So good with the steamed rice (I couldn’t help it, I was too hungry)
  • Xiao Long Bao – So yummy and the soup inside was the perfect temperature for eating – not too hot
  • Ginseng and Oolong Tea – Excellent tea and unlimited refills of hot water

Service was excellent, contrary to the reviews I’ve read. Staff was very attentive to our every need. One of the best service I’ve ever encountered. But it was not during peak hours so that might be a factor.  I love the interiors and the uniforms of the serving staff.

Traditionally dimsum is really pang-lunch or at the most, pwede pa until tea time. Not like sa Pinas na 24/7

Ohhhhh! No wonder! Yeah, for me dimsum was an after-drinks-at-3-am-in-Manila-thing! I miss Hap Chan, North Park & Tianenmen.
