We arrived quite late in Lyon for the Festival of Lights weekend. Driving to an unfamiliar highway through a snowstorm was quite tiring and took both our eyes to make sure we made it safely. So after checking in we just wanted a quick dinner at the hotel bar so we wouldn’t have to walk anywhere.
CHATEAU PERRACHE BAR
I was so happy to just sit down & wait for my food with a Vin Chaud (French for Glühwein or mulled wine).

I found the wait staff warm and welcoming. He also brought out a bowl for DiploDog. It’s so funny coz the bowl is as big as him and he can definitely quench his thirst.

GOOD TO KNOW ABOUT KID’S MENU
The KID’S MENU is fish or chicken with fries or vegetables. We chose chicken but didn’t realize they wouldn’t be fried crispy. Of course, we are in Lyon so they don’t have different food for kids. A kid’s menu is basically a smaller portion of an adult’s dish with fries/veggies. This is something that you need to note when traveling with kid’s to Lyon.

I got the French Burger with Fries. It came with sides of Ketchup, Heinz Mayonaise & Dijon Mustard. The steak was not done well enough for me, but probably perfect for most people. I enjoyed the fries.

TD ordered the best dish IMO. He had the Scallop Risotto and was super happy about it. We ended up exchanging lol. My poor husband.

We all shared the Nutella & Speculoos Tiramisu. This is so, so, so yummy!

CHATEAU PERRACHE BREAKFAST BUFFET
To keep the breakfast room from being crowded because of COVID19 we needed choose our timeslot ahead of time. We chose the late one at around 9am because we didn’t want to have to wake up to early. We are on vacation after all.

The main breakfast room is stunning with super high ceilings as expected & tons of light streaming from the meters-high windows.

They had the usual fair like bacon, eggs, bread and juices, but what really stood out to us was how delicious the breads were. I loved the freshly baked croissants! They also have cold cuts, salads, cheeses, nuts, cereals, yogurts, milks, etc. I love putting the bacon

The stand out though was the pain au chocolat! Best we’ve ever had so far. Oh so buttery, flakey and freshly made. Can’t beat that with a good cup of coffee!

Their coffee machine churned out good coffee every time. We usually have a cappuccino in the mornings.

THE SMALLER BREAKFAST ROOM
The next day we were seated in a different area that’s adjacent to the main room. You can see the main room through the doors behind TD & DiploBaby. When we see pain au chocolats we grab them coz when you dine as late as we do at 9am, it can run out.

You can tell by their faces how happy they are with their pain au chocolats!

I was so delighted to sit by the window.

I can’t stop staring at the handpainted ceilings!

My favorite find is this nectarine yogurt by Savoie Yaourt.

Then I have my favorite thing to have for breakfast: a bacon & egg croissant sandwich.

We have to put on our masks when we leave our table to get food from the buffet. We were wearing our Jim Weaver double-sided cloth masks.

The cool thing about being by the window is we could hang DiploDog’s leash on the knob. Even DiploDog enjoyed the yummy croissants.

Our cute little pain au chocolat monster!
