If you are looking for a budget hotel that’s pet friendly, by the main road in Tagaytay and right beside a good Japanese restaurant, we saw Containers by Eco Hotel behind Mori by Aozora Japanese Restaurant.

It looked so interesting that we decided to check it out! Loved all the artsy details and how it’s made of up-cycled containers and other sustainable materials!
By installing proper wall and ceiling insulation plus a concrete roof deck at the top floor, combined with passive cooling and excellent cross-ventilation, with the option of air-conditioning, our container rooms are very comfortable and cozy as any other luxurious hotel room.

I wish we also checked out THE SCRAP SHOP upstairs but we didn’t want to linger too long. It is workshop for hotel guests to build new items from scraps, that would normally be thrown away.
The lobby and walkway between the rooms are open air so it felt safe to explore.

I thought this artwork by the entrance was so gorgeous!

This coffee mural on the floor is a study in perception.

We were shown the family suite that had a bunk bed which pulls out – great for kids – and a queen size bed! Though it’s good to know that this eco hotel rates well with couples.
They used up-cycled wooden palets, wine bottles, plumbing fixtures and other sustainable materials.

The bathroom was surprisingly spacious and had modern & clean facilities.

As I walked out of this eco hotel, I couldn’t help but hope that other hotels go the same way! I’m sure the materials are cheaper and it’s so much better for the environment!
A Container Building is one great example in upcycling and using recyclable materials to build a structure. Biophilic design principles were applied by studying the natural airflow and lighting that brought in nature to its interiors. Solar power has been installed on-grid, harnessing power from the sun, and a rain water catchment is a source of water for cleaning and landscaping.
With our carefully studied eco settingscapes, our adaptive reuse of many old things that normally end in the garbage or worst burnt to discard, and with our sustainable business practices, we hope that you will take home lessons to apply in your everyday lives.

I personally do not think Containers is a place to go to relax because the rooms are small and there is no view, unlike this AirBnB, to it’s really a place to stay when sightseeing is allowed/safe again in Tagaytay then just have a clean and comfy bed to rest on at night.
