Bespoke Full-length mirror

June 8, 2011

A few days ago my standing mirror finally arrived. Remember my hallway? The only thing that’s been missing from our entry hall were coat hooks and a full length mirror. It’s a must for me to be able to check t0p to toe before heading out (sometimes a shoe is perfect with my outfit in my head but in the mirror it turns my  legs to logs LOL!).

Danni was so nice to get me this simple doorstop (I haven’t found this design in ACE). He even installed them for me!

The coat hooks are black coated iron from InterDesign (available in ACE Gandaria) which are actually for behind the bathroom door. It took my a long time to find hooks that were perfect for my hallway… most of the stuff I see are chrome. Can you imagine chrome hooks with this?

The base and the mirror are separate and what keeps the base from sliding are these soft but heavy duty rubber squares that he attached to the bottom. (these were NOT regular 3M bumpons – if you use that for something this heavy it will slide and your poor mirror WILL break) The original design of the base was rectangular but I requested he round out the corners (it’s even more rounded in reality than in the pic above), because I don’t want (future) kids getting caught up in those sharp corners.

Somehow DiploDog always manages to be in my shots. That’s a cameo of his fluffy bottom in the mirror. =P

The fabulous umbrella holder in Prada Silver was made-to-order by  GALERI POT. It’s called the Kolony Vase in Large for about Rp 240,000 (or 24 USD est.) if I recall correctly. Contact details below.

[…] A full length mirror – for that last check  before leaving the flat. Gotta be sure it’s not only the flat that looks put-together! I love that this mirror has a separate base and body. It doesn’t need to be drilled to the wall either. You can read about where I had it made here. […]
