Naka Bali Painting

November 14, 2013

I’ve haven’t been able to sleep lately and blogging is a way to keep my sanity, which I am, quite literally, trying to keep. So I’d like to share with you something beautiful that nourishes the soul, art. A painting I fell in love with right before leaving Jakarta.

There aren’t many moments when I fall in love with a painting. It’s quite rare. But the face of this Asian girl haunts me. We were all packed up for Berlin – the shippers were done packing all our stuff and we had literally moved out of our condo already – when we decided to have a last meal at KOI Kemang. While we were eating, I noticed that the art on the walls were from a gallery that had an exhibition that I really loved before – Naka Gallery from Bali.

I remember seeing a different painting awhile back of a woman in bright colors, but I forgot to return for it because it was in KOI Mahakam. So this time I looked around and found this painting. I love the mostly monotone colors.

Our shipment was supposedly full, but we asked if this specific painting would fit. We gave the measurements to our shipper, Santa Fe. When the shipper said we had space for only one, we knew it was meant to be. Santa Fe Shipping company was lovely enough to pick up the painting directly from KOI Kemang. Win!

I hope you like it. I can’t really explain my taste for art, and I cannot claim to be sophisticated at all, but I just know what I personally find beautiful. What do you think of the painting?

More about the painting:

GALLERY: Naka Contemporary Bali
ARTIST: Widi

The initial artist that I liked in the first Naka Exhibition was Naka him/herself. I remember it was the face of a woman too but in the painters own unique & super modern style in mainly bright yellow, but with many other colours of the sun. I fell in love with it because it made me think of the beach.

If you are interested in checking out Naka Contemporary art, below are the details for their 3 galleries in Bali.
