KOI extendable TV table

January 16, 2013

APRIL 2020 UPDATE: I added photos of how this furniture looks in our different diplohomes below. You can see how we used it in our homes in Jakarta, Berlin then Manila.

So this is the TV table that we ended up getting for our master’s bedroom. I got it from KOI. To be honest I’ve eyed it for about 3 years already. And I was seriously contemplating having Danni make it for me, however since the price came out around the same, I decided to buy it from KOI because it would be the first time Danni would make it while KOI has been making this design for years. Can you believe that this is what I asked for my birthday last year? You know you’re getting old when you are asking for furniture! LOL!

I would love to have gotten this amazing design (featured in my earlier post), but in solid recycled teak it would have been very expensive.

Oh well. The one I got is pretty amazing already. In the picture it is configured to be as short as possible, but since it is two separate pieces, I can pull them apart if I had a bigger room. Or I can also make it L-shaped to fit a corner. AWESOME right?!?

Some really excellent furniture making skills is used to make such a beautiful, strong and stable piece. If done incorrectly or if inferior wood was used, I wouldn’t trust it to hold something as expensive as a TV. But the perfection and brilliant KOI work is so obviously strong and perfectly balanced. I just love brilliantly designed and crafted objects…*sigh of happiness*

2020 UPDATE: In our Manila DiploHome

If you wanna check out more awesome furniture, visit KOI Galeri which is on the 2nd floor, on top of the restaurant. Contact details below.

Good to know:

Teak is an indoor outdoor wood. Depending on how it’s treated, finished, and the quality of the piece, teakwood can also be used as outdoor furniture. Yes. That’s how awesome teak is.

I love modular, flexible furniture. It’s perfect for our nomadic diplo-lifestyle! What do you think of the Lekk expandable TV table?

I love it. You got it from Koi? My husband and I were just checking out the furniture there and saw several precious pieces. 🙂

KOI furniture would be a great keepsake from Indonesia. I highly recommend it. You just have to make sure to check all the parts when they deliver because if it’s a complicated piece like my dining set, they forgot several items and had to come back to install them several times. They were pretty great at admitting they made a mistake though.

Anyhoo, I learned about Danni from your blog. We were looking for someone to make (A lot of) furniture for us. I got hold of him once but couldn’t contact him anymore afterwards. It’s a shame, really.

For real? Did you try calling his mobile number? The best way to get in touch with him is BBM and WhatsApp. How did you get in touch? I’d love to help you guys get in touch!
