TRAVEL DIARIES: 4 Days in Frankfurt

January 28, 2014

marriott frankfurt location

I had a list of things to do for Frankfurt which I compiled from online research and many came from the City Guide Booklet provided in the Marriott Hotel room. This informational booklet that they provided was really handy and gave highlights of Frankfurt in a way that didn’t overwhelm me. So here is the list that I compiled. I crossed out the ones I was able to do in our 4 day trip.

  • Cheap pizza at Da Cimino – supposedly the best in town
  • Enjoy Frankfurt’s traditional local drink, Apfelwein or Ebbelwoi with traditional Frankfurter food at an Ebbelwoi tavern at Sachsenhausen
  • Try a Frankfurter Würstohen (small sausage)
  • Visit the Goethe Haus
  • Paulskirche where German democracy was born
  • Kaiserdom (cathedral)
  • Go shopping at Zeil
  • Walk Goethestrasse, Frankfurt’s most luxurious street
  • Grab a bite at Fressgass
  • Museumsuferfest
  • Dom which was built in year 852 (Museum is open April – October)
  • Palmengarten Rose and Light Festival in June
  • Senckenberg Museum of Natural History (ticket prices here)
  • Deutsches Architektur Museum
  • MMK Museum für Moderne Kunst Frankfurt/Main – one of the world’s most important museums of contemporary art
  • Shopping at My Zeil

Unfortunately I wasn’t able to do everything on the list because of lack of time and the others must be done on a different month. So it’s a good reason to return to Frankfurt. For those that I’ve crossed off my list, I will be writing a post on all of them.

Other posts that I will be writing are: (UPDATE: click on links to read them)

  • Driving in the snow via the Autobahn
  • Marriott Hotel Room
  • Marriot Buffet breakfast
  • Marriott Executive Lounge
  • Gorgeous lunch by the River Main at Main Nizza
  • Cheap but delicious pizza at Da Cimino
  • Trying a Frankfurt specialty: apple wine
  • Beer and burgers at Champions Bar
  • How to get around
  • Frankfurt city tour
  • Goethehaus tour

I hope you don’t get bored of my Frankfurt posts! But for those who plan to visit Frankfurt, I hope it helps you plan your trip! I would love to hear from those who have been to Frankfurt about other must tries in Frankfurt!

[…] Though Frankfurt is beautiful to see, a this bus and walking tour helped me truly appreciate the significance of the different city landmarks, that without the tour, I might have just thought of as an old building. Getting a little glimpse of the history and culture of the city, has helped me love Frankfurt. I definitely want to go back and visit the places that I wasn’t able to cross of my Frankfurt Bucketlist. […]
