There are limited places to eat if you do not have a car while staying in Santa’s Village so it’s important that our hotel had a good resto. We ended up eating in GLASS RESTAURANT every single day we were in Rovaniemi. Dinners for the first 2 days because we were too tired to go elsewhere and lunch before we headed to the airport for convenience & time-saving. But first check out the gorg interiors!
INTERIORS DURING THE DAY
When you enter the building you will first have a glimpse of the resto through this entry.

But first, you can hang your coats & then go around…

…through this hallway to let the restaurant know how many you are.

Then they can seat you through the other side.

Isn’t the glass wall stunning?

Now let’s check out their breakfast buffet!
BREAKFAST BUFFET
We had GLASS RESORT’S BREAKFAST BUFFET coz it’s convenient to eat near one’s room in the mornings so we can still head back to our hotel if anyone needs to use the bathroom, before heading out for the day.

The pancakes were good with nutella!

The blueberry juice was intensely delicious

Smoothie shots & fancy Pentik dishes & cups

I liked mixing different muesli, cereals, berries & nuts with milk. YUM.

The hot stuff kept warm in cast iron pots

The lovely lady in the restaurant recommended we trie this Karelian pie with a hefty serving of egg butter (called munavoi). Apparently you can also top it with “smoked salmon, ham and cheese, and accompanied by pickles, tomatoes, and cucumber.” You had me at egg butter which is basically like japanese egg mayo. Instead of mashing hardboiled egg with mayo, it’s room temperature butter.

I really enjoyed the cheeses with the different jams. I can’t pick a favorite between the blueberry, cloudberry & lingonberry. They were all so good!

Fondantt & petite fours

I’ll give you a tip: place cheese & salmon or ham on the lettuce & roll it to create a lettuce roll. It’s so unbelievably good because of the high quality lettuce. I would even call it juicy and sweet

Of course the meatballs were incredible with the lingon berry jam. I really loved the pickled stuff because they neutralize the richness of the food.

You can’t go wrong with cheeses, jams & crackers. The traditional bread with a generous helping of egg butter is a must.

INTERIORS AT NIGHT
The interiors get even more dramatic at night.

It feels like you are under the stars even if you aren’t beside the massive glass wall.

I like the simple candle & sprig of pine set up. Funnily these candles don’t make me cough.

These antler chandeliers are so iconic to lapland because they really don’t waste any parts of the reindeer that they eat.

DINNER
Tired from arriving from the overnight train + everything we did on the first day like walking to Santa’s Salmon Place & Santa’s Office, we just wanted to eat near our Glass Apartment.

Finnish Draft Beer Karhu

Guys I cannot tell you enough how good this bread and baked butter is! Seriously!!! I could just have it alone for dinner.

The amuse bouches. One is for adults and one is for children. Can you tell which?

Massive portion of chicken fingers and fries for Diplobaby. Very yummy but super big so expect to take away or eat the rest for your child.

The creamy mushroom soup is TDF. Best mushroom soup I’ve had so far.

The Roasted Arctic Char with carrots, peas beetroot and dill sour cream was delicious but cannot even compete with Santa’s Salmon Place.

Creamy Oats in a Risotto Style, fried pease and mini milk-cap mushrooms. So good!

For dessert we had Rakka (Lappish Style Rocky Road) with dark chocolate cake, raspberry melba, white chocolate and berries.

DiploBaby had vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup. At first we put syrup on the side coz he has never liked it but after tasting it, he now loves the combo!

Look at him digging in!

As predicted, take away fries and chicken fingers. Packaging is ecoecho by Duni supplier of GoodFoodMood

2ND DINNER
The next evening we also ate there for convenience and to celebrate TD’s birthday.

One discovery here is how good the Finnish Draft Beer Karhu is. If you have the chance to try it, I highly recommend it.

amuse bouche

Reindeer steak for me

The moose was okay, but I preferred the reindeer steak.

After every meal, even we we got dessert, Finnish chocolate is always given to take home.
