Haiyan Fund Raising Concert

December 14, 2013

I want to share some pictures of a Charity event held in Berlin for the benefit of Typhoon Haiyan Victims in the Philippines. This event was organised by the Filipino Community who worked in partnership with the German Federal Foreign Office, Berlin Chancellery (the mayor’s office), Aktion Deutchland Hilft, Willkommen in Berlin and the Philippine embassy in Berlin in less than a weeks time.

Welcoming the guest were the people from the embassy and their families.

It warms my heart to think of all the different nationalities based in Berlin who gathered together to help us raise funds for our country and the talented musicians who gave their time and effort for this event. Haiyan Fund Raising Concert Germany-006 Starting it off with a prayer.Haiyan Fund Raising Concert Germany-007 The ambassador welcomed and thanked everyone for the support and outpouring of assistance coming from Deutschland. Haiyan Fund Raising Concert Germany-008The different performers wowed the audience.  Haiyan Fund Raising Concert Germany-012 Haiyan Fund Raising Concert Germany-013 Haiyan Fund Raising Concert Germany-015 Haiyan Fund Raising Concert Germany-016 Haiyan Fund Raising Concert Germany-009 Haiyan Fund Raising Concert Germany-010I don’t have many great pictures since I was at the very back and I used a point and shoot that couldn’t zoom so much. So, I am sorry if I don’t have the photos of everyone in the event. After the free concert, people voluntarily donated whatever they could to Aktion Deutschland Hilft, which has done such an amazing job raising funds  for Typhoon Haiyan Victims.

How amazing was the Berlin Rathaus? The government allowed the organisers to use this beautiful venue. Pictured below was the waiting and dressing area for the musicians.Haiyan Fund Raising Concert Germany-017

Though there has been a lot of assistance, it will take the ravaged areas years to recover. We are not a rich country and any help the people can get, in terms of building back their lives and homes (hopefully made of stronger material) will be costly. Many of the people in those islands lived in wooden homes that had no chance against Haiyan. So if you would like to donate, here is the link to Aktion Deutschland Hilft.

I cannot say this enough. The Deutsch have been so speedy and efficient with their assistance. German efficiency never ceases to amaze me.
