How To Organize LEGO

February 27, 2020

After my son’s LEGO party, we had a lot of LEGO to organize and I asked my mom friends how they organized theirs, while scouring Pinterest for inspiration. See the video how to below.

I realized that it’s important that I organized it in such a way that:

  1. It looked beautiful and could be placed in the area beside his toy chest in my all-white living room.
  2. The containers were buildable and could be expanded as his LEGO collection grew. This means that I could buy more of the same and it could be stacked on top of each other.
  3. I could organize everything by color so that a) it is easy to find the bricks he needed by color and b) my toddler can help pack it away.

For the standard sized LEGO blocks this was how I organized them and where I got the containers:

For the smaller pieces that are more specialized, I organized them in what used to be where I put my stones, Swarovski beads and pearls, when I was still making jewelry. I bought them years ago in ACE Jakarta, but I found something similar on Amazon here and here. You can have them delivered via Amazon Global Shipping if you want it within a week or use shippingcart.com if you are willing to wait. I’m not affiliated with them but just a happy customer.
