Little Thank You Gifts

August 15, 2011

Sometimes I like to get TD little gifts. We are far from being a romantic couple, in fact we don’t even have an anniversary for getting together, we are both bad with dates (remembering birthdays, anniversaries, etc.) and we even don’t celebrate Valentines. Thank God we are alike in this way so no hard feelings. We do show our love in other ways. One of those things for me is getting gifts for no occasion (my best friends know that I don’t remember birthdays, but sometimes I just randomly give gifts… it’s my own way). One of things I love is getting us his and hers stuff. Last time I got us his and hers stainless steel key chains and hip flasks (matching but his is bigger than mine). Check out what I got this time!

His and Her Bookmarks and Little Bookholders! Aren’t they the cutest?

I gave these to him right before our trips to Bali (2 in one month!) because we both love to read books, especially by the pool/beach. For me it was my way of thanking him for bringing me along on all these amazing trips the past 2 years. We haven’t had our “real” honeymoon yet (we just went to Tagaytay to get our families off our backs after our civil wedding but for us that didn’t really count!) but I think TD has more than made up for it already.

You see TD has travelled so much his entire life, being a son of a diplomat himself, but I was never allowed to travel outside the Philippines. (I’m lucky to have been all over the beautiful islands of the Philippines though!) My family had their reasons so I was only really able to go on official school functions (one was to represent and lead the Philippine delegation for a conference in Alberta and another was for foreign exchange studies in Florida and Delaware). So TD told me that he wanted us to travel as much as we could before we got pregnant so I could make up for lost time. And thanks to Air Asia (where everyone can fly!) and booking a year ahead for trips (1-5 USD promo fares) we have been able to! Beyond my  imagination in fact. We may not be super expressive, TD and I, but we each have our ways. So this is me saying thank you for taking me on so many honeymoons TD. *hug*

This was me using the HER Bookmark in the airport. I have to say though, using it as instructed with the hands over the page you are on, is NOT a good idea when you are traveling. Because with all the hustle and bustle of travel (sticking your book into the bag and what not) the page of your book will rip. We ended up using it like a traditional book mark for the rest of our trip to Bali. It’s best for use at home!

This is the Little Bookholder in action. It really is perfect for reading while having a leisurely breakfast alone, or when your hanging by the pool. And best thing is after you read, it’s can be your bookmark as well. From now on this is what we are bringing for travel reading!

I got HIS and HER bookmarks and Little Bookholders at TIMES Bookstore, Pacific Place (there are 2 locations in this mall, I got it on the 2nd floor (I think?) not the lower ground store).

Hello there soon-to-be Diplowife! Thank you for commenting on my blog, I really appreciate hearing from you! To be a Diplowife definitely needs some mental, emotional and educational preparation! There are so many exciting experiences to be had, yet there are also costs like starting a family far from home and friends, adjusting to living in a different environment every few years, etc. And of course, depending on the kind of Diplowife you wanna be, you also need to prepare yourself in terms of culture and knowledge! Feel free to email me at thediplomaticwife@gmail.com if you have any question and I would love to help in any way! We are lucky to have Jakarta as a first post, and I am happy to share my experiences! =D

How long has your fiance been in the DFA? When is he expecting to be posted? Any ideas where? =)
