If you are in Barcelona, this is A MUST, especially if you are Filipino. The 2nd oldest restaurant is still managed by the same family – the Bofarulls – that established it 191 years ago in 1825, only this time the new generation has some Filipino connections, which for me is so cool as a Filipino! Thank you so much Cristina for the unforgettable Los Caracoles food & experience!

Los Caracoles is few mins walk from Las Ramblas in the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona a mostly pedestrian-only area (except for authorized vehicles). Outside before you enter, you can see the most famous rotisserie in Barcelona.
It’s also famous for passing through the ancient open kitchen to get to the tables inside.

We went for the first time in 2014, not knowing that my son was already in my tummy. And I can say the food got even better.

Then we went back in 2023 with our son and it is a core memory for our family because not just of the food, but the warm welcome of Cristina and the tour of the restaurant. We had the most amazing table.

Snails everywhere!

Famous people like Lenny Kravits, Robert de Niro, Giorgio Armani & Salvador Dali came here and you can see many more when you look at the pictures and signed memorabilia on their walls.

Of course we had to order the signature dish for which it is named after, Los Caracoles. We must have eaten it too quickly coz I can’t find a picture of it! We really miss seafood in landlocked Switzerland so we took advantage of the fresh seafood here.

For me the highlight of the meal was also the 1/4 COCHINILLO DE SEGOVIA ASADO or ROASTED SEGOVIAN SUCKLING PIG which was so tender with crispy skin! Pork perfection! Though their rotisserie chicken is famous too, it’s easier to get good ones in Switzerland, but cochinillo is my all time favorite dish. And Los Caracoles did not disappoint!

The mixed seafood & meat meal was perfectly paired with this Rose wine. Love the round crystal!

We capped it off with the CREMA CATALANA & some delicious espressi.

After the meal we were ready for a tour! Did you know you can book a TOUR WITH YOUR MEAL? You heard that right! CLICK HERE to book!

It has interconnected bigger halls for events and smaller rooms. It’s like labyrinth because it slowly and organically expanded through the decades.

It reminded me of a hobbit house somehow.

Thank you Cristina for a unforgettable lunch & fond memories!

Oh the stories these walls could tell! I can’t wait to go back and learn more!
