MADRID BITES: Serrano 80

April 17, 2022

We discovered Serrrano 80 only because we had to head over the the RIMOWA store to have our luggage open after a tiring day of flying from Geneva to Madrid. We wanted to change but all our clothes were in this particular trunk. After they opened it we wanted to grab a bite so we could directly go home & rest.

But it was a happy accident, because we ended up eating one of the best & cheapest steaks of our lives. I’m not really into steaks, unless it’s done well.

You can see the RIMOWA store is right beside it. Perfect! No walking around with our luggage needed. They serve drinks with POTATO CHIPS. As a huge fan of potato chips, I always look forward to the chips in Madrid. They just have that extra yummy oomph.

Tinto de verano which is similar to Sangria but easier to make. Super refreshing!

For me the calamari was to thick. I really prefer chupitos fritos because the baby squid is crunchier. The croquettas were okay. I would not order the tortilla de patatas again.

The fried fish was good. Perfectly seared.

The highlight of the meal was the steak for sharing. The picture doesn’t do it justice. It was a big portion.

We ended up taking home the steak because we ordered to much. Takaw mata (eating with our eyes) talaga because we were hungry. The surprising thing was that the steak reheated so well. It was still so good. What a nice surprise!

If you like steak and you are in the Calle de Serrano area, I highly recommend it!

SERRANO 80 MENU

It’s a simple back to back menu. Remember they add a surcharge of 10% when you eat outside. But it’s well worth it. And the prices are still affordable. I have to say, I find eating out in Spain cheaper and better quality than in Manila.

After the meal, we walked a little bit because we were stuffed. It was nice to see the beautiful buildings & window shop. The touristy bits of Madrid is unbelievably gorgeous!

We got home to DiploDog sleeping in one of our RIMOWAS. He loves sleeping in luggage LOL!
