Minimalist White Soap Dishes That Save Your Soaps

September 14, 2020

I’ve always felt let down by most soap dishes, because either the soap is sitting in a puddle of water and getting wasted or even if the water is strained out, it’s still stuck in the bottom. So I went and searched for the high quality soapdishes that were beautifully designed and went with my #whiteliving aesthetic.

I finally found soap dishes that I love and help my castile soaps and homemade soaps last longer. AND they also maintain the decluttered look of my sinks and bathrooms! Win win!

1. WHITE SILICONE SELF DRAINING WATERFALL DESIGN

I swear by this design. We have it in each bathroom sink, shower and bath. You can also use it to keep your sponges and pump bottles dry. Though i do not recommend using sponges because they are single use plastic items that need to be replaced every 1-2 weeks because of the bacterial content. Unless you are using natural sponges which are biodegradable in the correct conditions (not in the landfills).

With this soap dish though, we still need to clean the bottom coz liquid still has a tendency to stay in the bottom.

I’ve seen this design featured in the MoMA Store and it’s definitely well deserved!

2. SILICONE SOAP DISH WITH DRAIN SPOUT

This design is a game-changer because the water goes straight down to the sink/bath.

I bought mine in a design store in Japan and I am super happy with it! This version from Amazon is much more affordable. It has all 3 of my soaps in my bathroom: Face, Body and Shampoo Bars!

BIGGER SELF DRAINING MATS

This is slightly bigger for organizing other things by the sink. Though as you know I swear by my stainless steel racks for my bathroom, if that’s not the look you are going for then you might like this:

I personally have this bigger Self Draining Drying Mat for the side of my sink. I find it very useful!

This Silicone Drying Mat with Drain Lip also look super useful and conveniently drains into the sink.

DOUBLE PURPOSE SILICONE MATS

The cool thing about silicone mats is that they are double purpose. I personally use this IKEA Silicone Dish Draining Mat as our trivets to protect our table from warm serving plates, pots and pans during meals. They are also okay to place drinks on so as not to have any water rings/stains on our table.

I can’t seem to find it on the IKEA website. We got this in IKEA Fukuoka and I love it so much! It’s great especially when we place a big pan of pasta on the table. I don’t have to worry about oil or water stains on my table.

I’ve never used it for our dishes because I have this LARGE translucent white silicone drying mats from MakeRoom.

Anyway, I hope you found this post useful and inspiring. White living doesn’t have to be stressful when you choose the right materials!
