When we were visiting Bicol in June 2019 to see the province of my Father-in-Law were wanted to stay in Misibis Bay because after a lot of research we found it to to be the best place to stay in Bicol. We were lucky enough to find a good deal with Deal Grocer for their Standard Pacific View rooms which was in the newest wing in the resort.

MISIBIS BAY STANDARD PACIFIC VIEW
- 39sqm
- Bed Configuration: 2 Double beds
- Safety Deposit Box
- Complimentary Coffee Counter
- In-room blowdryer
- Iron
- 32″ LCD TV

The bathroom is open concept so please remember this when booking one of these rooms. There is only a privacy curtain for the shower but a glass door for the toilet. The rest is enclosed by curtain only. This was fine with us. But we needed to schedule the use of the toilet to give privacy to our Yaya B.

The bedroom itself is gorgeous. I love the use of local handicraft/weaving and echoing the colors of the sea.

Providing us with a woven bag and slippers was also very thoughtful.

Can you spot the kid in these pictures?

My in-laws had the adjoining room which is a mirror image of ours. It was just really strange that their room was not ready at the same time ours was but both were very beautiful rooms.

DiploBaby was raring and ready to go for a swim in their pool!

We asked for extra pillows and slept very well in our room! DiploBaby was super happy to be snuggled up to his Dada.

Kids are funny! Look what DiploBaby created on Dada’s board shorts after a few minutes of fidgeting with it!

Going to and from our room to the main pool, DiploBaby discovered Makahiya Plants. These are super interesting plants whose leaves close when touched! I remember being super shy when I was in first grade that my classmates said that if I were a plant, I would be a Makahiya plant!
In English it is also called sensitive plant, sleepy plant, action plant, touch-me-not, or shameplant. He thought they were so cool and I was happy to share something from my childhood. But I told him to be careful because they are prickly and can cause wounds.

It was hot during the day and cool during evenings!

THE MAIN POOL
The sun was really beating down during the day so sunglasses and hats are a must with lots of sunblock! Since the main pool is a bit of a walk, we would bring everything we need for a day by the pool main pool!

The main pool has a lot of different heights and areas. During the hot noon time sun, we would go underneath the trees. There was always a lifeguard and they required kids who do not know how to swim to wear a life vest. Thankfully DiploBaby already knew how to swim by this time because of his regular swimming lessons!

RESTAURANT
Right looking over the pool is the restaurant which is also where the breakfast buffet would be served!

The buffet wasn’t bad at all with lots of different choices but they had really yummy desserts & freshly baked bread!

The unforgettable ones were this mini ube cupcake. Ube is purple yam.

And these dark chocolate covered cornflakes. Seriously we wanted to take some home with us coz they were so good!

THE BEACH
The beach isn’t that great because this is definitely no Boracay and it’s not fair to compare it.

The beach is not really white sand. I think it’s black sand and they just exported white sand on to it. There are black pebbles by the beach and as you go in, it’s black sand as it goes deeper.

Because of the possibility of see urchins and the pebbly beach, it’s good to wear protective shoes when getting in the water. My in-laws brought aqua shoes and TD, DiploBaby and I brought our favorite German Leguanos and Leguanitos.

TD and I both have the Barefoot Active Leguanos which is great for wet/dry. I usually wear them on the plane. They are so comfy and protect your feet in the water too!.We also have the Classic Barefoot Shoes. DiploBaby has the Leguanitos.

After having difficulty walk in slippers, they changed to protective shoes. Since it was June, I did not want to risk myself and DiploBaby. We did bring our favorite Quut sand toys so he was happy to build sandcastles instead!

The beach side is breezy and it was nice talking sunset walks in them too.

Dinners were a fancy affair with lots of buffets to choose from. I didn’t get any photos because it was dark, and perhaps I was hungry LOL!
DiploBaby swam so much, he would be knackered by the time we got to our room at the end of the day!

ROOM TRANSFER
They also offered us a really good deal on their villas so we tried a villa for our last 2 nights. The villas are older than the pacific view rooms, but the one we got was directly facing a pool, which was a lot of fun for us, especially our little swimmer DiploBaby!

They picked us and our luggage up in a golf cart and that’s when we realized how huge Misibis bay is!

We said bye the the new pacific wing! And saw lots of poolside villas – even some 2-story ones that had pools snaking along side of it!

MISIBIS BAY ONE BEDROOM POOL VIEW VILLA
- Size: 65sqm
- Bed Configuration: Double/King
- Safety Deposit Box
- Complimentary Coffee Counter
- In-room blowdryer
- A bluetooth speaker
- An iron & ironing board
- 46″ and 40″ LCD TV ( LR and BR area)

If you love swimming, this is a better room for your because the pool is right outside your door.

Behind the bed is a desk with the phone, menu and a dresser seat. It reminds me of the design of our wonderful room in Phuket!

I like the local touches in this room. The decor in the back reminds me of Arnis sticks. Fun fact: I was Arnis Club President when I was in High School.

I always fold and store these things from hotel beds coz I always have a feeling that they aren’t washed after each guest. Are you the same?

The rooms are mainly glass around with floor to ceiling curtains. So it feels like you are outside but in the comfort and coolness of an air-conditioned villa.

THE IN-LAWS’ GARDEN VILLA
I’m not really quite sure if this is the Standard Garden View, Deluxe Garden View, or Garden Villa because it seems that the only difference between them on the website is the size of the room and a Bluetooth speaker.

My in-laws were VERY UNLUCKY because their air-conditioning BROKE in the middle of the night and they couldn’t be bothered to move villas at that time so they were sweating it out in their villa!

We felt AWFUL for them and would have asked to be transferred to an air-conditioned room, but it’s understandable because they must have been really sleepy and did not want to pack up in the MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT. I think the resort should at least have sent electric fans.
They have a nice snippet of the beach from their Garden Villa which I thought was nice but they complained that the beach front villa beside them was loud and partying through the night too.

I feel bad for them because they were not very lucky this trip. When you are paying a few hundred dollars for your room, it’s nice not to have these hiccups.

After we had breakfast, we basically spent the day in the pool behind our poolside villa.

I thought it was really cool that these pools snaked their way through the different villas with bridges on top. It was really a nice place to swim!

I don’t know why DiploBaby was grumpy and crying here, but it was short-lived. He loves swimming with us and these pools are like paradise for him. You can see how tanned he got from all the Swimming despite all the sunblock. But at least he didn’t get sunburnt!

MISIBIS BAY is the best place to stay in Bicol. Not that it’s perfect in anyway. I heard thay they used to be managed by an international chain, but they opted out. This must be the reason not everything is up to international standards. But if you are in Bicol, this is the best that you can book.
I hope you found my review and POSTS ON BICOL useful especially if you are planning to visit this province!
