TD’s first time to cook for me

October 28, 2010

I woke up yesterday with my body feeling like it  was hit by a truck again, but unlike the day before I could not get up! I have fallen sick yet again. (Curse this sickly body of mine!) I was bemoaning to my inability to finally cook for hubby the Bolognese recipe I learned from cooking class at The Ritz Carlton.

He said no problem he would take care of it! And this is the fantastic result:

Hubby cooked for me for the first time: Spaghetti Bolognese a la Ritz

Hubby cooked the Spaghetti Bolognese a la Ritz perfectly! Too bad we didn’t have any more Grana Padano to top it with! (Mental note: must buy a block of Grana Padano next time at the super)

Dinner was accompanied by fresh guyabano (soursop) juice

He was apprehensive at first because it didn’t taste like the usual super meaty Bolognese. But I assured him that the recipe I learned from Ritz is meant to taste fresh not meaty. I was so happy – I didn’t realize how nice it felt when one’s husband cooked for you! (Especially when it’s delicious!)

Dinner was accompanied by fresh guyabano (soursop) juice made by our housekeeper. This is currently our favorite juice. We’re sorta bored with fresh apple and watermelon juice. You should definitely try making it – it’s like a dessert and a drink in one!

He’s always told me he can cook, because he cooked for himself while in University in the UK, but I never believed him. (In my head college cooking is frying Spam and eggs) The proof is in the pudding right?!? =P Now I know, and I think he liked the experience too because he wants to cook  a chorizo brunch this weekend. Now this is a nice perk to being sick! LOL.

Great job, hubby! Thank you!

That was really nice, wonder when JG will cook for me? That will be the day. But if he does offer to do so, I will probably bask in the sweetness of it for a second and immediately insist that he doesn’t have to to avoid the risk of setting fire to the kitchen. But I digress, that was really sweet of your hubby.

LOL! I’ll be sure to let TD know you said so. You’re so funny sweety! What do you eat when you are too sick to cook??

I rarely get sick to much not to cook, but I’m a big fan of sandwiches, cornflakes, and sometimes fruits, so that’s my fall back meals. JG on the other hand is always happy to buy take outs for us, in such cases. He claims he can fry hotdogs though but I again, I discourage him to prove it w/o any supervision. 🙂
