UPDATE: This post can give you an idea of how Kasa Luntian rooms & facilities look, however Dr. Dale is not doing his detox in other locations. Please get in touch with him to find out where he can hold a detox like we described below. I highly recommend it once a year!

When our neighbors heard about TD (The Diplomat) was diagnosed with colon cancer stage 1 last February 2019, his second primary cancer after his Bone Cancer stage 2 diagnosis in January 2018 (that means the bone cancer and colon cancer are not related to each other and that’s a good thing!) they mentioned to us that they do a detox or cleanse twice a year in Tagaytay with a lovely couple.
TD thought it was a good idea, especially after the really difficult past week when my grandma died and we were feeling under the weather because travel – going and coming back from Iligan on the same day – can be hard on the body. We didn’t make this decision lightly but felt it was necessary for our family.
I just wanted to share the experience with you because I felt that after feeling like a victim, powerless and helpless because of TD’s cancers and some rather traumatic family affairs, this detox really helped me reconnect with my body, get a reboot and take my power back.
KASA LUNTIAN 2 BEDROOM

Dr. Jenn and Dr. Dale held the detox in Casa Luntian in Tagaytay, which is about 1.5hrs away from Makati. We got a 2 bedroom suite so that we could bring our son and yaya, and have 2 bathrooms for comfort since both of us were doing the cleanse. If 2 people are doing the cleanse, then it’s highly recommended that you have 2 bathrooms. The suite was 55sqm but well designs so it felt very spacious.
A big plus for me is that the beds and pillos are very comfortable and they provided enough pillows without us requesting for more. This is a huge plus for me because when you are on vacation, you want to feel well-rested!

I thought it was rather well-decorated and there were some nice surprises like toiletries that were wrapped in STONE PAPER. It’s only the second time in my life that I’ve encountered stone paper, the first one being in a Berlin stationery shop. I also liked that the handwash, shampoo and conditioner were in bigger refilled containers because it’s more sustainable than tiny individual toiletries that get thrown away daily.

There were a few things that could have been improved by Kasa Luntian staff, like forgetting to refill some of the toiltries and not cleaning this properly, and maybe the toilet seat needed tightening, but all in all, it’s pretty well run.

DiploBaby loved the balcony that had additional astro turf green. Though not real grass, it was a nice touch that made a huge difference because green is pretty relaxing.

DETOX MEALS & DRINKS

There was a small kitchen where the staff of Doc Jenn and Dale, Ate Alma, prepared the cleansing meals and drinks. They even brought their own stainless steel heavy bottomed pans – a detail that I liked because it’s healthier than cooking in teflon.

We were pleasantly surprised by the taste of the healthy food and drinks that were prepared for us by Ate Alma. There was a specific sequence and instructions on how to do things.

HASH or Holistic Approach To Self Healing
TD (The Diplomat) and I find the guidance of Dr. Jennifer De La Rosa ( Board Certified Physician – Philippines) and Dr. Dale Flores (Certified Holistic Nutritionist – California USA) of H.A.S.H. very illuminating and helpful.
We were DIYing and taking many supplements for quite some time, ever since TD was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma and we watched this amazing documentary called The C Word. It opened our eyes to how food can cure and prevent cancer together with traditional medicine. With Dr. Dale’s help, we are now getting most of our nutrients from food instead of expensive supplements. We filled a whole Honestbee bag with bottles upon bottles of supplements that we were taking.
Dr. Jenn is also helping us find not just natural products to use but once that are truly organic and effective. To be honest there is a lot of trial and error when looking for healthy products and food for us and our children and it can be very expensive too. So knowing doctors who really take the time to even visit the factories and farms to make sure that they are truly organic yet still affordable takes out the guesswork.
Remember that everything we put on our skin is absorbed by the body so it’s just as important as our food.

EFFECTS OF THE CLEANSE
Let me start by saying that everybody is different and will probably have different results and they didn’t call detox “the flush” without reason. Several things came out of our system throughout the night, that I am sure would not have come out without this cleanse. We thought of doing colonics in San Benito before (and we might still try it out in the future), but that is just an enema that cleanses the colon. This overnight cleanse on the other hand is for your whole body, from your small and large intestines to your kidney, gallbladder and other organs, so for me, it is more thorough.
With the approval of my psychiatrist I was able to lower my bipolar meds by 50mg, because everything inside is so clean so our absorption levels are different post cleanse.
I also have never had this much energy in the past couple of years. Normally when we come from a drive or any out of town trip, I want to rest in bed, but from Tagaytay I was so energized and invited my family to swim. I even had a bit of exercise in the evening. This is unheard of for me in recent years because my energy levels have been super low and I’ve been so lethargic. Since the cleanse I have done some physical activity – like swimming or even just walking/dancing for 30-60mins per day minimum. I feel great!
I’ve also not have to take all the expensive supplements to get the same effect. For example instead of taking vitamin C or Berroca when I was getting a cold, Dr. Dale guided me to have more local citrus and I combined this with my homeopathic meds and a little thieves and lemon on the soles of my feet. It was gone in one day. I used to have to take magnesium so I wouldn’t be constipated, but now I don’t need it anymore.
It’s not just a simple explanation but a series of small adjustments to our lifestyle with daily guidance from Drs. Jenn and Dale that are making a huge difference in how we feel.
I’m so happy that I now have the energy to play and swim with my son every day. That alone is priceless to me.
TODDLER FRIENDLY
In between meetings and taking the cleansing juices, I was swimming with DiploBaby in the salt water pool of Kasa Luntian.

Since only mine and TD’s food were provided by the cleanse, we were able to order room service for DiploBaby and Yaya Bella, from Taza Mia an affordable Italian coffee shop in Kasa Luntian premises. We were surprised that dinner was delivered by an Italian man and apparently he is the owner of this branch. DiploBaby liked their breaded porkchop and clubhouse sandwich with fries, while we enjoyed the pesto pasta and the gorgonzola & walnuts pasta. Their cappuccino is delicious and doesn’t need sugar.

TD chatting with owner Massimo about Florence and the lovely art of conversation while dining, which is much better than everyone on their phones during a meal.

INVESTING IN OURSELVES
We paid for this cleanse and are now doing a 30-day nutrition coaching with Dr. Dale. It’s not cheap but we feel that even with our limited budget it is something that is necessary for us. We want to live longer and healthier lives for our son.

When we reflected on it, we realized that we spend a lot on travel and shopping but can be quite tight-fisted when it comes to wellness activities like this, when the reality is investing in our health, food, and products that we put on our bodies should be more important. So we are willing to sacrifice on non-essentials so we can buy better care and nourishment for our bodies. During this fight against cancer we realized that aside from medicine, self-care and self-love like weekly massages, acupuncture, and even chiropractic adjustments have a big impact on our health and well-being.

I know that parents invest in organic and “safe” products for their kids, but we forget that we adults deserve the same safe products for ourselves too, because our children need us to be strong and healthy so we can see them grow old and have families of their own. This is why I wrote about natural products that are effective and cost efficient for the entire family. Shifting to these products have also simplified and decluttered our home!
This cleanse is recommended at least once a year, but ideally twice a year. I think TD and I will try to do it in another 6 months. Probably after his oral chemo treatment for the colon cancer – if he decides to proceed with it.
SHIFTING TO ORGANIC PERSONAL CARE

Dr. Dale and Jenn have been so generous with natural organic products they themselves use. They are not endorsers of these brands but just gave it to us for personal use. I hope to write about the ones that I found super effective soon!
