Just found this interesting so reposting it! I can’t imagine Pacquiao being nominated for the Teen Choice Awards! But he has! LOL! We can never underestimate how popular Pacquiao is in the US.
Check out article below reposted from Pacquiao nominated for ‘choice male athlete’ in US Teen Choice Awards | Asian Correspondent.
World boxing champion, Manny Pacquiao, is among the nominees for “choice male athlete” in the United States’ 2011 Teen Choice Awards.
Pacquiao, who is also a current member of the Philippines’ House of Representatives, is up against four other nominees: Jon Jones (mixed martial arts); Dirk Nowitski (basketball); Albert Pujols (baseball); and Shaun White (snowboarding, skateboarding).

Pacquiao is very well known in the Philippines and among Filipinos overseas. Whether this popularity translates into a win in this ‘fight’, we have to wait and see.
Perhaps young Americans would know Pacquiao from his many bouts, and likewise, remember him as the image model and endorser of a US mobile phone, as well as a tablet.
Voting has started
According to the 2011 Teen Choice Awards website:
Voting in the Teen Choice 2011 is only open to permanent legal residents of the fifty (50) United States and the District of Columbia, who are physically located and residing therein (excluding residents of Guam, Puerto Rico and all other U.S. and foreign territories and possessions), who are between the ages of 13 and 19 years of age as of June 29, 2011.
Voting started last June 29 and will continue until August 5, 2011.
The winners will be named on August 7 in an award show hosted on the US Fox network.
The full list of nominees has been posted on the awards website.
Pacquiao’s many achievements in boxing have made him a darling and icon for the Philippines.
The Speaker of the Philippines’ House of Representatives has even “complained” that Congress has ran out of awards to bestow on Pacquiao, whose victories always merit a commendation, citation or medal from Filipino legislators.
