Metro Manila is still on lockdown… the longest ever in the world. We are currently on GCQ or General Community Quarantine. I’ve been having problems with an old root canal that got infected.
During ECQ my dentist Doc Laura Urzola gave me antibiotics until it was safe to visit. Their clinic was still figuring out the safest way to proceed! Dentists are at high risk because of the aerosol that is produced when they doing certain procedures.
I’m so happy that they have opened their doors again and have so many safety protocols that aren’t so toxic.
For example, I asked them why they don’t continuously use fogger and they said because it is known to cause asthma attacks. It was a lightbulb in my head because whenever I go to my in-laws place they have a fogger that gets everyone who enters into the lobby and I always get an asthma episode when I go to their place. NO WONDER!

When we enter we have 2 steps for our footwear. Then you sanitize your hands with non-contact dispenser. And they take your temperature. You also have to answer a questionnaire online.

I had to wear a gown, hair net and they replaced my face shield with goggles. They also provided a plastic bag for all my belongings so that we don’t contaminate the clinic when we enter the room.
We reove the mask right before the procedure and place it in a paperbag. Can you spot the UVC light sterilizer that cleans the air as it cools the room? They have one in each air-conditioner. Do not look directly into it.

I always love how relaxing and beautiful their clinic is!

They employ pre-procedural use of Povidone-Iodine antiseptic rinse during dental procedures. Studies have show that this significantly decreases the viral load in the mouth. Source | Study

I love that their X-rays are digital so the dentists can check throughout the procedure that the job is done thoroughly. Imagine when this procedure was done decades ago, it’s easy to miss a root because they didn’t really have this technology. No wonder my they needed to redo the root canal.

For the rootcanal procedure they had Doc Cha who specializes in rootcanals do it. This is another thing I love about Primea Dental Clinic. They have different specialization and the different dentists consult each other for a well rounded treatment. The whole family can go from babies to seniors because the dentists each have their own specialization.
Ff they don’t have someone who specializes in what you need, then they have someone come in like Doc Cha. We didn’t have to go to another clinic. So convenient.

Suction during drilling for aerosols.

Happy to be in great hands! The whole procedure took 3 sittings because the molar had FOUR routes! Imagine!

In the 30mins in between clients they clean the rooms very well using organic disinfectant and change PPEs.
Then at night a super powerful UV light with ozone goes on for 120mins to totally sanitize the whole clinic. And each room and area has powerful HEPA filters that even indicates how dirty/clean the air is.

I asked about the UVC aircon sterilizer and they showed me the box. I also researched and apparently this is the safest way to use UVC! It gets molds, odors, germs and viruses.
Done with my procedure and ready to go out. They do not do rapid tests in their clinic because it’s not really accurate. You can be exposed to someone with covid, test negative and then still be contagious later on. So it’s a waste of money and gives people a false sense of security.

FAMILY CLEANING

Also had our family cleaning the other day. Doc Lau is the best with babies and kids coz it’s like they get hypnotized! She’s so so good!

Excited si DiploBaby to finally see Doc Lau hehe!

First we had TD go ahead. I realized this was a mistake. He never gets cavities so he wasn’t a good example for DiploBaby because it was so fast. i should have gone ahead knowing that I had a rootcanal to cover so at least he would see I was okay.

Doc Lau looks like so badass right?

She always makes DiploBaby laugh and feel more at ease.

When it was DiploBaby’s turn we thought it would just be a cleaning but Doc Lau found FIVE FREAKING CAVITIES. OMG! He’s never had a cavity before so he bawled!

That moment when DiploBaby realized he needed a drill in his mouth. Poor booboo!

It took a while and lots of cajoling. This is how we got him to finally do the cavities. It took so much longer cajoling him and doing everything we could…
All is well in the end! All 5 cavities filled!

In my last post about Primea, when they opened, DiploBaby was just 3 years old. How time flies and how different dental visits were then. You can read about it below!
