I’ve seen Ramen Sanpachi (or Ramen 38) around malls, but have never felt the urge to try it out, until our “local” guide Imman took us to the original branch Jakarta in the Blok M area. This place is a hole in the wall type in the gritty area of Blok M. What’s special about it, is that this one serves pork (unlike it’s mall-located halal counterparts). TD and I are the pork tourists of Jakarta and we are happy to discover new places with fellow pork lovers. iPhone photos after the jump!
When going to a place called Ramen Sanpachi, what else would you order… Ramen of course!
Imman’s go to dish is the Tonkotsu Chashu Men!
TD and I shared a bowl of Tonkotsu Chashu Men and another ramen that had curry. YUM!
But for me… the ultimate discovery of the evening was the pork gyoza. I think next time I’ll just have the pork gyoza with their Japanese Fried rice, which is pretty delicious too!
We were all happy with the food + ocha panas (hot tea) and we topped it off with some of their delicious ice cream. It was very interesting to try their green tea ice cream.
After dinner, we had a night cap at our place. It was a chill Friday night with friends. It’s funny how DiploDog also looks at the camera when his picture is being taken – now that’s #HellaPinoy haha!

The broth looks very thick.. 🙂 I heard they have level of spicyness too 😀
If you like Ramen, you should also try Santouka Ramen in Plaza Indonesia. They also serve pork, and not just any pork part but pork cheeks hehe… 🙂
I think Marutama Ramen in Sentral Senayan and Echigoya Ramen in melawai still the best ramen in town 🙂
