JAKARTA EATS: KOI Kemang Lunch

March 31, 2011

After a morning at the gardening shop and the ceramic outlet store the girls and I deserved a treat! So we had lunch at KOI Kemang which is a favorite spot in Kemang. They are known for their Brunch menu (I personally prefer Social House for brunch) but we decided to try their regular lunch menu. All 3 of the girls ordered the Angus Roast Beef with Truffled Pudding which was excellent. I must bring TD (The Diplomat) here so he can try it! That Truffled pudding is amazing!

KOI Restaurant Kemang Lunch - Angus Roast Beef with Truffled Pudding

Angus Roast Beef with Truffled Pudding Rp 110,000 or 11 USD est.

KOI Restaurant Kemang Lunch - Rotisserie Chicken

Rotisserie Chicken. Half roast chicken with rosemary gravy and fries Rp 70,000 or 7 USD est.

I had the Rotisserie Chicken. Though it was tender, I’ve had better. And I prefer my chicken with crispier skin. Nothing beats the Belgian Roast Chicken from Villa Hanis in Yogyakarta! Also I found the rosemary gravy too tangy for my taste. The best thing about this dish was the fries! They use real hand cut potato and it’s so well seasoned, it’s scrumptious! Best french fries I’ve had in Jakarta so far.

KOI Restaurant Kemang Lunch - accompanying condiments

With all the accompanying condiments that is de rigueur in all meals here in Indonesia

KOI Restaurant Kemang Lunch - Iced Cafe Latte

Iced Cafe Latte Rp 25,000 or 2.50 USD est.

KOI Restaurant Kemang Lunch - Dessert Sampler

Dessert Sampler of all KOI favorites Rp 90,000 or 9 USD est.

Since we didn’t know what to order for dessert we got the sampler.  And my gosh was it HUGE! For the price this was a great deal! Even if there were 4 of us, we definitely couldn’t finish it! Here’s what’s in it:

  • Guava sorbet with fresh guava (the red scoop in the center)
  • Hazelnut chocolate mousse
  • Dark chocolate tarte
  • Creme brulee
  • Apple crumble
  • Profiterole smothered in chocolate sauce
  • Scoop of green ice cream – seriously can’t figure out if it’s pistachio or pandan.
  • Scoop of lemon grass ice cream

Here's the view from the other side!

My favorites are the Mille Feuille (Left) and Profiterole smothered in chocolate sauce (Right). After this MASSIVE lunch we needed to walk off the calories. So off we went to explore their amazing furniture, decor and art showroom on the second floor.
