We’ve meant to go to Chilis ever since we arrived 3 years ago. The location isn’t convenient for us. We avoid going past Grand Indonesia in the Pusat (central) area as much as we can because of the infamous Jakarta traffic (macet!!!). During the past holiday we finally mustered up the energy to check it out! Pictures and verdict after the jump!
Plus point: 500 mL bottles of Aqua! I feel so dehydrated with the usual tine-tiny bottles that are usually served in restos that cost 2 USD!
We wanted something light so we ordered just appetizers. We forgot about the super-sized portions – LOL! =P
The food was good, bordering on okay. (Hence the “RESTO REVIEW” not the usual “RESTO RAVE.” We got our western meal fix but there was something missing. We barely made a dent on the spread above. And we didn’t feel the usual satisfaction after a big American/TexMex meal that we usually feel after eating in Chilis in Manila (or even in KL). So for us this is a one time thing. I’m glad we finally went and tried it. And we had leftovers good for 2 meals! We basically spent about IDR 350,000 for a total of 3 meals. How about you? Have you tried Chili’s in Jakarta and how did you find it? Any recommended dishes?

Yep it’s not bad, but not really great either. The steaks are good but pricey. Nice photos btw…
Thanks! Glad you like the photos. Yeah we didn’t even bother with the steaks – mahal! Thanks for dropping me a line tempo dulu! Lovin your blog!
Have been wanting to try chillis too. I love Mexican food and need a fix every so often. There isn’t a great choice here in Jakarta…
Hi Sinead, I know what you mean! I find hacienda a bit pricey and just okay. I do love Taco Local because of the cheap price. It’s supposed to be Mexican with an Indonesian twist. It’s a bit of a hole in the wall, right beside a skateboard/bike shop, but as a former surfer, I love that vibe!
Sad to hear that peaople are missing out on some good Mexican food. Having to travel to this parts of the world from Dallas and being Mexican I asked about Mexican restaurants in the area. I was told that there were mexican restaurants already here in Jakarta. In this trip, Im finally invited to one of these so called mexican restaurants. When I asked for the name of the restaurant, I was told it was Chilis. Chilis? The tex mex restaurant chain based out of Dallas that also owns applebees and a few others. The dinner is tonight and I had alrady agreed to go. I will be the judge of the mexican food. I will write a review and will notify my mexican restaurant owner friends in the US about the possibility of spreading the taste of the delights of mexican food to this parts of the world.
