JAKARTA EATS: Romantic Birthday Dinner at The Ritz

October 6, 2011

Yes this Diplo housewife is busy busy! I can’t believe I’m only posting about my romantic birthday dinner in October! (Friends know that my birthday is in the first week of September) Wow. Talk about delayed. Hope you enjoy the photos after the jump!

Lobo (Ritz’ Carlton Kuningan’s italian resto) really made an effort after my husband informed them that the reservation was for my birthday. Lobo rocks! Check out that candlelight and rose petals… =P

My favorite resto bread: SAMBAL bread. So yummy and just the right amount of spice! MmMmMmm…

A meal at Lobo is not complete without a complimentary amuse bouche. This time it was a shrimp cocktail.

We ordere a cold cuts platter/salad. Great quality cold cuts are hard to find and this was amazing value for money.

I had the mushroom cream soup.

TD had the lobster bisque.

Then we shared a pasta (carbonara) for long life with a generous serving pancetta (if I’m not mistaken). By this time we were seriously full already so we had to take home most of the pasta so we had room for dessert. =P

Lobo treated me to a complimentary samba cake (my favorite!). Only thing I was disappointed about was that it didn’t have our favorite crunchy bottom that is the hidden delight in every samba cake. Sad but hey it was still nice of them to make the cake for me. The staff wanted to sing a “Happy Birthday” for me (with the mascot ba to?) but I shyly decline. Hehe.

At the end of dessert we got complimentary palate cleanser (Love this!) and were also surprised with a virgin cocktail!

Everything was YUMMY.

We ended up in Lobo, because on the morning of my birthday, we got an SMS from Lobo greeting me and offering a special discount so the hubby called them to make a reservation. When I arrived I showed them the SMS so we could avail of the 15/20% discount. What a great deal for such excellent service.

Note if you want to surprise someone with a special dinner, make sure to inform Lobo of the special occasion ahead of time so that they can set up the table nicely and prepare the birthday cake. We did it on the morning of the same day.

Again sorry for the perpetually late posts! I am happy to say that life is so full I barely have enough time to write about it. =D

What a sweeeeet romantic birthday dinner. As an Indonesian, I have never had sambal bread and that just sounds so delicious! All the food that you had there sounds super actually! Definitely a must go place when I visit.

Happy (belated) birthday. You totally deserved all the royal treatment, Sweetie!

I had the surprise birthday dinner for my husband too last year in july. I have to say Lobo is the best place to spend a special occasion at because they always do that extra mile to make it special. We got the corner sofa seat overlooking the garden with rose petals too.Not to forget, impeccable service, they even greeted my husband in spanish. Totally worth the spending 😀
