After our visit to Lego Berlin & legging it to the Museum Island Boat Tour we were definitely ravenous. Another cuisine that’s good to have when you are in Berlin is Thai food because this a big Thai population in Germany. Alex & Tess took us to their fave neighborhood restaurant, but whatever Berlin hood or Kiez you find yourself in, there’s bound to be a delicious Thai resto.

Alex enjoyed the Thai beer.

If you are ordering Vorspeisen (appetizers) to go with your rice meal, be sure to tell them to please serve everything together at the same time or else they will serve the appetizers first, then wait for you to finish before serving the rest of the food like what happened to us.

V5 POH PIA TOD or Thai mini spring rolls with meat (or can be vegetarian)

V1 SA-TEH or Sliced chicken sticks with peanut sauce best enjoyed with the pickles

I have missed hakaw so I couldn’t resist ordering it even in a Thai resto. It was delicious!

G10 GÄNG KIAU WAHN GAI or Spicy Thai dish; Chicken with green curry in coconut milk, bamboo shoots, thai aubergines, chili and basil.

Best with lots of fluffy white rice

P12 PANÄNG PED or Crispy duck on red curry with lemonleaves, basil, sweet pepper and fried in
coconut milk
Crispy duck in curry sauce

Y8 LAAB PLA TOHD or Fried crispy fish (chopped)Salad with chili and fresh Thai herbs. I was really hoping that this was crispy catfish salad that has an almost web like fluffiness, but sadly it’s just crispy fish meat in a tangy salad. It’s delicious, but wasn’t what I was looking for. Had it with rice too.

DiploBaby was very happy with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Like many Berlin restos they give a freebie (coffee or digestifs) when you pay the bill. We chose limoncellos.

The service of RÜAN THAI is very friendly and warm. Like most restaurants in Berlin it wont be the fastest because eating out is meant to be a relaxing experience of catching up with friends & manpower is limited but efficient. It’s something we got used to when we lived in Berlin for 2.5years.
They have a nice little outdoor area for nice weather. It’s also very important to note that it’s CASH PAYMENT ONLY.
