JAKARTA EATS: Sushi Tei

October 15, 2010

Had ladies’ lunch with my fab Indonesian friend TC to finally catch up after meeting last year! There are just some people you get a long with and have things in common, and you just instantly click. TC is one of them for me and it never ceases to amaze me when it happens especially when that person is from a different country and culture. These are the kind of people who you talk to like you’ve been friends forever, even if you’ve just met… or that you talk to like you just saw each other the other day, even if it’s been more than a year. And I thank God every time the wonderful magic of friendship happens!

We had lunch in Sushi Tei (of Singapore fame) at Pondok Indah Mall 2. Sushi Tei is a Japanese go to place here in Jakarta. Nothing extra fancy, just good Japanese food with fresh ingredients and reasonable prices. The interiors are always lovely, subtle and minimalist – infused with an element that sets it apart. I love the raised glass flooring with white stones underneath in the Pacific Place Mall branch! What makes it a bit of a novelty to eat here is the Kaiten Sushi or the Sushi train, which has different sushi’s parading down the center of the restaurant making it convenient for a quick bite or an on the spot decision!

Here are pictures of what we ate that day. Sorry no names and pricing, I was enjoying the conversation too much! =D Enjoy the pics!

Sushi Tei is one of my favorite sushi restaurants here, too!! I love the photo of the sushi counter you have. All the sushis look very yummy!

Oh my… I didn’t realize I didn’t site my sources for that pic! I wish it was my photo but it’s from the Sushi Tei website. Thanks I’m glad your comment reminded me! I try my best to always site sources but sometimes I forget teehee! Sushi Tei is great bang for the buck right? No wonder there is always a line!
