2023 UPDATE: LAGRIMA has moeved from BSA Mansion in Legaspi Village to somewhere near Circuit. I’ve updated the contacts in the bottom of this post. They also have a location in San Juan.

In this unassuming place, you will find one of the best tacos in Manila. When we first tried lagrima a few years back, we came back 3 times in the same week.! That’s how much we loved it.

My only complaint about Lagrima is the really tall seating, because I’m short, so it isn’t the most comfortable. My PWD hubby loves this place so much that he wanted to go and remained standing with his crutches when he ate with his friends. Getting his Taco fix was worth it for him. Oh and it’s not really baby or kid friendly, so be warned there is no place to change diapers, except maybe that bench.

My friend Erikka really loves Mexican so we went there for her birthday month meet up.

While waiting we ordered the tart calamansi soda’s which is rimmed by cinnamon sugar. It’s perfect to balance the heat of the food.

This is a casual cafeteria style place.

One secret that our friend shared with us to remain comfortably seated for longer, is to twist the chair so it look like a diamond, instead of a square. This helps ease the pressure on the legs especially if you are short like I am.

Homemade nacho chips with refried beans. I prefer the regular nachos which our doused in cheesy goodness.
If you order 3 Street tacos. it’s cheaper than if you order individually. And it’s the perfect number to feel full in my opinion because these are small tacos. Here i ordered the 1 with carnitas feelings (fillings, get it?) + 2 shrimp feelings. The shrimp tacos are amazing. It’s even better if you get shrimp quesedillas because of the smokey taste and melted cheese.

But the off menu shrimp feelings are only available on Fridays. So Erica and I went early during friday lunch time. They only open at 12nn, but they let us sit inside to wait for them to open.

My picks is carnitas street tacos, if the shrimp quesedillas aren’t available. My friend Chichajo of 80Breakfasts Food Blog Fame, loves to take out the shrimp burrito for their movie date nights. We will have to try it soon! Seriously the SHRIMP is worth going on a Friday for.
THE VERDICT
So after many visits, here are my favorites:
- SANDIA A refreshing Watermelon drink rimmed with spicy salt is a perfect match to the mexican flavors. My mouth waters just thinking about this.
- SHRIMP QUESEDDILAS Worth specifically going on a Friday for. Even better than the tacos version.
- GRILLED CHICKEN STREET TACOS After trying the different tacos, this is by far my favorite feelings.
Have you tried Lagrima? Which feelings (fillings) are your favorite and why? I’d love to hear it! Check out my IG stories highlightes to see my favoriite bites of Manila.
