DIPLO FINDS: Snake Skin Travel Wallets

January 5, 2011

My brother-in-law is an expert traveller (after all he had been a diplomat for much, much longer) and like him, I also have  a thing for traveling with the right luggage, bags and travel paraphernalia. On his last visit he found out that it is nice to have snake skin and leather items made here in Jakarta. We met with this woman named Yully at my friend D’s place. D was nice enough to host a lunch for all her friends to come and see the different products. There were so many in so many different colors – bags, wallets, purses, clutches, shoes, etc.!

We ended up ordering Travel Wallets based on my brother-in-laws leather one. I got mine in water snake as well, because I wanted to try out Yully’s products first before ordering the more expensive Python or Calf-skin. I am happy with the ones I got (they make nice gifts as well) even if there were some folds in the sides (which I think is really a weakness of the material we chose) and the flap was made with a separate piece of snake skin.  It would have been much nicer if it was one piece – we should have specified it! But I guess for the supplier it is more cost effective this way. (Lesson learned.) Nevertheless, I feel it’s pretty good value for what we paid!

This is the original Leather Travel wallet of TD’s brother

Hi Sweety! Yeah IKR?!? For wallets and cellphone cases I now go with super bright colors! It prevents me from losing my stuff because I can easily check if they are in my bag or not. In the past, I wouldn’t realize I had lost my phone or wallet until it was long gone because they were always encased in black so the whole time I would think they are in my bag. So far the strategy has worked! (after losing 11 phones total)

Nice. I would like to inquire about the price and if this can be shipped to the US. I have a travel wallet where I put my passports, tickets, itinerary, and sign pen but it’s embarrassing to take out because it’s made out of plastic.

Hi Therese, I will ask the supplier and PM you =) I had to LOL when you said plastic…. though I have a cute yellow patent travel wallet with zebra turquoise lining and coin purse inside which is super cute… but I no longer use because it is no longer age appropriate and not very Diplo Wife-ish. =P

Hello from Vietnam. It’s a good idea to have a travel wallet. Very cute! I agree with you that a bright color will make it easier for you to spot your wallet inside a purse. I feel like I”m always digging inside my purse in search for my stuff! Kaho
