What better way to start the Martini lineup than Lobo’s legendary Irish Wake Up Call? Made with whisky, Bailey’s, Tia Maria and espresso.
It was chocolaty and creamy but tasted bittersweet, like some of my fondest memories.

We finally tried the infamous Sunday Martini Brunch in Lobo Restaurant at The Ritz during their first year anniversary celebration. This is definitely not your regular Sunday brunch with Sloppy Joes and ham. It’s a sophisticated Sunday treat for adults with nary a child in sight, lovely music in the background and free-flowing martinis and wine.

For starters I had sparkling wine while I decided which martini to start with. LOL. I knew it was gonna be a great brunch already.

Sambal Bread and Breadsticks with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The Sambal bread is absolutely wonderful. Soft rolls that have a nice spicy kick. Sambal is a chili based sauce that Indonesians have with almost everything they eat.

We were served the Amuse Bouche which consisted of a shot glass of mushroom soup which is a little on the salty side and a delightful bite of fluffy scrambled egg.
What makes this buffet different is that appetizers and desserts are on buffet, while the main course is ordered a la carte. You can choose from US prime sirloin, US scallops, pasta, seafood and breakfast dishes created by Lobo Chef Mariano Liuzza (who was one of the chefs at the Italian vs Pastry cooking class where I learned to cook that divine Mushroom & Cream Sauce pasta). There are many options to choose from like Grilled Rib Eye with Garlic Mash Potato, Veal Scaloppini with Sautéed Vegetables, Penne Gorgonzola with Rocket Salad and Chilean Seabass with Coleslaw. All the guys in our table picked the Rib Eye and all the women picked the Chilean Seabass.

Chilean Seabass with Garlic Mashed Potato. The fish was perfectly seasoned with a nice crunchy crust and perfectly cooked meat. The mashed potato was so garlicky and loaded with butter (YUM).

The men took delight in picking the knives for their steak from the collection of steaks knives from different countries. If I'm not mistaken, my hubby picked the Japanese steak knife.

Lychee Martini - usually for me this is always the best martini, but this time the standout was the Irish Wake Up Call.

Chocolate lover: Tiramisu, chocolate mousse, Pralines and the favorite Chocolate Ganache (it's the slice in the top portion of the plate)
They have 21 signature martinis so you can imagine there were so many others I wanted to try. But by 3pm I was definitely tipsy already! Other martinis I wanna try next time:
- Daisy Buchanon (gin, English tea, mint, peach and vanilla)
- White Chocotini
- Dark Choco Tini
- Blackberry Martini (chocolate based)
- El Presidente (brandy, orange Curacao and lime)
- Perfect Martini – a mix of Classic Dry Martini (gin and dry vermouth) and Sweet Martini (gin and sweet vermouth)
So many martinis, so little time!

Hi,
nice article, the pics were also really great! Just the right thing for my girlfriends birthday 🙂 Fingers crossed it won’t be too full in 2 weeks…
Hi Christian, Thank you I am happy to hear you think my pictures look great! 🙂 You can call Lobo’s number (at the bottom of my post) and ask for a nice table by the window for the special occasion. I am sure the kind people at The Ritz would be happy to oblige and help you impress your girlfriend. You can look for Lia.
THIS IS AMAAAAAAZING!!!!! I am so jealous we don’t have anything like this in New York 🙁 That tiny scrambled egg amuse bouche kicks the so-called omelette I had at Sunday brunch to the curb!
That amuse bouche was so yummy and the eggs to look pretty good. You should visit Jakarta sometime. Their dining scene here is crazy and super edgy interior designs! Thanks for dropping by and commenting on my blog Celine! =D
