JAKARTA FINDS: Aksara Bookstore Sale

January 27, 2011

Today I dropped by Aksara for some therapy (checking out is extremely soothing for me – like going around the supermarket) only to find out that all their books are on SALE.

There were different stacks of books that were only Rp 50,000 (5 USD est.), Rp 75,000, Rp99,000, etc.

  • There were also NEW books that were all 20% off.
  • Some books on interior design are 20% off!
  • There were many more sections that said 20%, 50% and 70% off
  • All other books are 10% off

EEEEEEEP! Good thing I didn’t have much time so I was only able to buy a few books –  GREAT STEALS!

Aksara is also always connected to a restobar (Canteen, etc.) – perfect for a snack (or happy hour!) after shopping! Wifi is free too. (image: blog.travelandleisureasia.com)

Seriously Aksara is one of my guilty pleasures here in Indonesia. They have super awesome novelty/gift items and great books too! (Remember this book?) It’s not that cheap though – I can never find a book under 100,000 rupiah (Php 500 or 50 USD est.) so this sale is incredible!

Too bad i didn’t have much time to check out everything! (I had to pick up TD so he could make it to his tennis session). But I am happy to say that I bought 3 books for only Rp 50,000 each! (Go me!)

Click on the links below to see the books I bought:

  1. What’s that job and how the hell do I get it? The inside scoop on more than 50 cool jobs from the people who actually have them – basically I bought this because I want to check out these cool jobs that I might be able to do part-time and from home. One of the first jobs on the list is… yep you guessed it… BLOGGER. I might get tips on how to be a more successful one aye?
  2. Today’s Moms. Essential for Surviving Baby’s First Year by author’s of NBC’s TODAY show (I am not pregnant but I hope I will someday soon so better to be prepared!) Click here to read about a launch of this book.
  3. Baby Showers. Ideas and recipes for the perfect party – As a former events manager, I love throwing parties and I am sure I will love doing it even more when I have kids. It’s always good to have these nice full-color books with lotsa pictures around when the time comes. Click here to read a summary.

Must go back there with TD soon!

  • Sale in ALL Aksara branches
  • Sale is until Feb 3, 2011 only
  • Click here for a good blog post on Aksara with lots of pictures in Tongue in Chic.

Enjoy the sale dahlins!

Love,

DW

I didn’t know that there are multiple locations of Aksara! I’ve only known the one in Kemang!! Wow, I would love to read the first book you bought: What’s that job and how the hell do I get it? What an awesome book!! Would love to have some tips from you. 😛 You seem very dedicated to blogging and you have an eye for it, so I’m sure you’ll achieve your dream job. It might be the matter of time. Maybe yiou can teach me how to be a successful blogger. 50,000 Rupia for English books in Jakarta is a total steal. Great buy!!! When I saw your second book title, I jumped ahead and thought of you being pregnant, but you’re just preparing. Good for you! I have to go check out Aksara. Since I waited so long, by the time I get there, there might be no more books on sale? I hope not!
