Hotel De Rome Tour and Luxurious Design

October 12, 2014

At the end of our Willkommen in Berlin club year, the group leaders of the Dinner is Served Group organized an event with Hotel de Rome on their beautiful rooftop bar. This is a photoblog of that lovely event, where we enjoyed Aperol Spritz and delicious hors d’oeuvre on a glorious sunny day. After we were treated to a tour of the hotel learned about it’s interesting history (it was previously a bank). Though the structure is old, the hotel has very modern amenities. The designers of the hotel successfully married the historical finishes with modern edgy design. This seamless blending of old and new is something that really inspires me about Berlin. Hotel de Rome is a stunning example of this.

I especially loved this stairwell with original metalwork details.WIB-hotel-de-rome-007

The spa in the basement is located in the banks vaults.  The massive vault doors and other metal features are prominent backdrops to the spa’s modern design. Very unique! WIB-hotel-de-rome-008WIB-hotel-de-rome-009

I loved the restaurant’s al fresco area. Though the interiors are sumptuous and dark, the greens in the al fresco area are fresh colourful and delightful. It feels like your own secret garden in the hustle and bustle of Mitte. WIB-hotel-de-rome-013WIB-hotel-de-rome-014WIB-hotel-de-rome-016WIB-hotel-de-rome-015

The ballroom, which is rented out as an event venue is stunning with crystal chandeliers hanging from the glass ceiling, beautiful stucco and elaborate tiled flooring. I can imagine it as the backdrop of a fabulous wedding!

What a great way to end the last club year! Thank you to the group leaders for organising such memorable activities for us and making our stay in Berlin so wonderful. WIB-hotel-de-rome-003

If you find yourself in the vicinity of Hotel de Rome and the weather is cooperative, I can definitely recommend a drink in their rooftop bar. Call ahead to be sure that they are open to the public, because sometimes the entire rooftop is booked for private event.
