I usually buy DiploBaby’s clothes a year ahead of time and usually I get it during the Black Friday Sale, but for some reason I wasn’t able to get comfortable stretchy shorts for him in my last order. So we were really just trying to stretch out whatever shorts he had but I started noticing he was getting red marks around his waist and I suddenly remembered this local brand that I always wanted to try!
It’s called LITTLE LULI and the reason it was so memorable for me is because the ethos of the brand really spoke to me!
LITTLE LULI SIZING
Lucien is the wonderful lady who owns Little Luli and she was so lovely to talk to. The transaction was quick and smooth. She was super helpful with figuring out DiploBaby’s size. Little Luli comes in size 1 – 6, and are well-made, meant to be worn by kids for a long time. I wish I had known about Little Luli sooner!
Though DiploBaby is only turning 5 this August, he is 48.5lbs and his waistline is 24″ so I decided to go straight to the biggest size for 6-year-olds so he could grow into it and use it longer. I’m so happy I did because it’s so comfy for him. When he tried it on, he didn’t wanna take it off anymore!
This is a big deal because DiploBaby is used to having only the softest natural materials – in fact when he was a baby till only recently he would only wear only girls dark denim jeggings because he isn’t comfortable with stiff denim.
LITTLE LULI PACKAGING
I’m so happy because the products arrive and it was PLASTIC-FREE and came in the cutest reusable bag ever! I honestly don’t know why so many clothing brands come with so much plastic when brands like this show us that it’s not necessary to have plastic with each item we buy!
Opening it was a pleasure! As a mom, it made me so happy! Everything was soft, beautiful, timeless with clean minimalist lines. I chose unisex colors and styles because I wanna raise my son “color-blind” and not to be sexist thinking that blue is only for boys and pink is for girls.
LITTLE LULI SEED TAGS
This is the most sustainable kids clothing brand I’ve found so far. Every detail really impresses me including the seed tags!
You don’t just throw them away… I mean tear them up and place them in nutrient rich soil and the seeds inside the paper tag will grow. OMG. This is really a brand after my own heart!
SUSTAINABILITY & CONSCIOUS CONSUMPTION
During this time it’s so important to support local brands like Little Luli that are also mindful of sustainability!
They deliberately design clothes to transition as the tiny ones grow. This creative philosophy of making space for growth & creating quality pieces that last allows the clothes to be used for a much longer time especially since kids grow so fast.
Colours are gender-neutral and may be passed on amongst siblings. The simple, fresh & classic cuts are so easy to pair. Eco-friendly fabrics are painstakingly chosen to withstand wear and tear as much as they encourage movement and flow.
This brand is intentional and purposeful in every business decision that they make. Their collections are functional, high quality and timeless because we are advocates of conscious consumption. And it’s true – we really do not need a lot of something. A few of the truly good stuff is enough.
Little Luli is proudly Philippine-made and strives to continue making products crafted from local fabrics and materials while being mindful of its global market.
When I posted photos of it on Facebook raving about how soft and cool it was for DiploBaby – super important in the Philippines hot tropical climate – everyone was asking if they had for bigger kids! It really does move with even the most rambunctious of kids!
It was founded by Lucien Lao Villarruz in 2012 borne by her own need to find better designed pieces for her children. Now it has evolved into one of the most trusted and cherished children’s clothing lines in the country.
