Bespoke Teak Nesting Tables

January 17, 2011

I needed extra seating for entertaining and side tables for the living room. I’ve also always wanted nesting tables, so I thought I’d hit 3 birds with one stone by having teak nesting tables that could all double as stools or be used as side tables during parties. I came up with the designe and had my furniture maker Danni Roestam make them.

Nesting Tables: Tables of varying sizes stored one under the other, normally consisting of a set of three.

Here’s the plan:

We will have an extension table made so that our table for 6 can be expanded to a table for 8. But this means I need 2 more chairs whenever we are going to use it. Have you seen our dining chairs? (click here to view them) They are enormous! Made for caucasian sized people. Where will I store them when I am not using them?

So I definitely need extra seating that can either be stored easily or be dual purpose so it doesn’t take up much space when not in use.

This is what I came up with:

NESTING SIDE TABLES that can be used as SEATING! Perfect because I do need another side table for the living room. Each of the tables must be strong enough to carry the weight of a 200+ lbs. person!

It can be positioned in different ways beside the sofa…

Position #3

I’ve settled on position #3 because for me it looks neat and doesn’t crowd our already tiny place.

I love how it looks on the side!

Best thing about is that when we don’t have a sit-down dinner party for 8 they can be used as tables or extra stools for guests to sit on! Or just be tucked away!

So very happy with this design!

I can’t wait to order the table extension which can also be used on its own as another table for SIX then tucked away and used as a crafts storage cabinet when not in use. Very cool. =D

Why thank you! I absolutely adore capiz. It’s made of shells and is used in many local Filipino home decor products. In the past it was used for windows and can still be seen in old houses or replicas. I love how it is being used now in modern pieces.

Tqvm for the link! Yeah, capiz is definetely a must buy item. I have gathered few capiz house deco items n must grab at least a pair of capiz light before going home for gone. N i adore capiz outdoor lantern. No doubt, filipinos are absolutely creative people.

Hi Asni, gosh I cannot remember anymore. Maybe around 2M or maybe less? They are made with solid recycled teak. =)

Hi Nafisah, you can get in touch with Danni (his contact details are above) to get a quotation. The prices of teak have already increased and this is an old post so I’m not sure how much this would be now.
