Infants cannot blow their own noses so when your baby has a cold, they will be super grumpy, unable to sleep & (god forbid) even get an infection.

NOSE FRIDA REVIEW

You will most likely be recommended a NOSE FRIDA, which seems to be the most famous and best-selling nasal aspirator of all time after reading 8 Best Baby Nasal Aspirators of 2020 & 6 Best Baby Nasal Aspirators of 2021!

But whenever we would try to use the NOSE FRIDA, it was difficult and our herculean baby – he was super strong even as a newborn – would always push it away before I could suck out the snot. I would try to be really fast, but could never suck out snot fast enough. DiploBaby would struggle so hard coz he hated it!

Another thing I didn’t like about the NOSE FRIDA is the foam hygiene filters which are disposable & meant to be replaced. They are not biodegradable according to the brand on Amazon.

So I decided to scour Amazon.de – because at that time we still lived in Germany. It is also where DiploBaby was born – to find the FASTEST & EASIEST WAY to remove DiploBaby’s snot.

HEAVEN SENT ANGEL-VAC

Low and behold I found the ANGEL-VAC! And indeed it was heaven sent! I was hesitant at first because it necessitates a vacuum cleaner! LOL! This product is available in both Europe and the USA. It will just come in different names. You’ll see below!

But what I love about buying in Germany, it that they are so brutally honest when they do product reviews and they also have super high expectations of their products. Not only must it work but they will even complain if there is a plastic smell when they receive it or will even say if the item broke 2 years later LOL!

So I even read that some people who bought it tried it on themselves to make sure that it was gentle enough for baby. So of course this was what I did just to make sure the product wasn’t too strong but effective. The ANGEL-VAC automatically regulates the suction power and ensures controlled suction of deep-seated nasal secretions. 

Guess WHAT?!? It’s SO effective! Sometimes just ONE SECOND and it can suck out all the snot on one nostril!

Sure it was noisy coz we had to turn on the vacuum cleaner. But it was the only one that worked on DiploBaby. When infants’ noses are blocked they are unhappy little creatures, crying super hard. So at least it’s just a few seconds of discomfort when it comes to the ANGEL-VAC. It works on bigger kids and adults too! LOL my hubby sometimes uses it.

IMPORTANT BEFORE USING

Upon receiving the item, clean and dry it. Do not use a heat sterilizer on it or it might deform/damage the product. We use an ECOmom UV sterilizer so we do not have to fear heat damage

Have your vacuum, ready and plugged, then attach the ANGEL-VAC.

Optional: You can put a headset on baby to lower the noise if you wish. We never did this.

But before turning on the vacuum the most important thing to do is put a few drops of saline solution in each nostril and then squeeze the nostrils gently to allow them to soften the snot.

We personally use SALINASE nasal drops because it’s very gentle. DiploBaby absolutely hates nasal sprays or mists. He gets super angry and irritated with all the saline nasal sprays we’ve ever tried.

You can use whatever nasal saline drops that are available wherever you are, the important thing is to soften the snot for easy removal.

EASY CLEANING

Another thing I love about this type of nasal aspirator is how easy it is to clean. Just open it and run it through some warm soapy water! That’s it! No gross disposables filters to throw away too!

IT’S CALLED BABY-VAC IN THE USA

The good news is that I found a similar product in Amazon USA and it’s called BABY-VAC! It’s exactly the same!

Watch this video to see BABY-VAC in action! It’s kinda gross seeing all the snot that comes out, but very satisfying as a parent – and there is no literal sucking of snot that might end up in our mouths.

OTHER HIGHLY RATED OPTIONS

There are other highly rated options out there, but I always like to read the lowest reviews so I know the worst case scenario if I buy it.

I actually had something like this manual bulb, but it never worked for us because DiplBaby would always swipe it off before we have a chance to suction. Also it didn’t have much suction power which is what you need to effectively unclog baby’s nose.

There are options that have their own motor, but are super expensive! I prefer to use something with the vacuum I already have instead of buying something this expensive.

This is another electric one, but upon reading the reviews, many complained it broke easily.

DRUG-FREE SNOT REMOVAL

I love that this is a drug-free option for easing our little ones’ colds! Imagine, instead of having to go give medicine immediately, the solution is basically salt water + nasal aspirator + vacuum.

It’s seriously amazing & super effective!
