Contintued from TRAVEL DIARIES ✈ Neat stuff in our room in Hotel Nikko…
After we arrived and settled in our hotel, it was way past lunch and we were ravenous. I get grumpy when I am hungry so instead of making me walk for food, TD suggested we try one of the restos in the hotel. Since Nikko is a Japanese hotel we figured their Japanese resto would be very good. I was all for it – besides I love Japanese food! We were so hungry we didn’t even take note of the name of the resto! =P
TD caught a picture of my grumpy look (left) and of course when I noticed I hammed it up for the camera!
I had tempura over rice that came with soup, pickles and some fruits. The food was good but I’m not really sure if it was just because we were hungry… so don’t take my word for it hehe. What I was disappointed in was that they poured the tempura sauce over the tempura. Had I known they would do this I would have asked for the sauce on the side so it’s not so soggy when it’s served.
I didn’t even get to take a picture of TD’s meal! LOL! He inhaled it! =D
Lobsters in the acquarium. I know I shouldn’t compare but remember the ginormous lobsters in Grand Duck King?
TD and I were both full and happy after our meal. Despite the food being okay and the interiors surprisingly simple (We are so spoiled with the extravagant interiors of the restos here in Jakarta. Seriously.) it hit the spot. We were no longer hungry, now all we needed was a nap then it was time to explore!
Hotel Nikko logo in the stones – ow zen. It was nice sitting by the windows.
However if you have time and you’re not super hungry I definitely would recommend looking for a restaurant that is more value for money. Hotel prices for Japanese food that is not awesome is not a great deal if you aren’t ravenous! For me Sekitei and even Sushi Tei in Jakarta have better food and value for sure.
The entrance was pretty dramatic though with gusts of air blowing through the curtains fluttering. (Now that I think about it, where was that breeze coming from?!?)

This place looks serene. The entry way is very pretty and I love the big windows and minimalist design. The good looking sushi and tempura look delicious! Yum!
