BALI BITES: Menega Cafe Lunch

October 24, 2011

I was saying in my last post about Menega Cafe how utterly slow service was just because of how packed it is during dinner. If you want to have the completely opposite experience but still enjoy the delicious food, then drop by Menega on a weekday during lunch time. You order will come out faster than you can say “Ikan Bakar Jimbaran!” =P I’m exaggerating of course but you get my meaning…

There were one or two other occupied tables so this time we had our pick and no waiting! Despite it being noon, we didn’t feel the heat as the sea breeze was cool on our faces!

I finally got to take proper photos all Menega Cafe. Again this is dampa style so nothing fancy. Basically the “wet market” and grilling areas by the entrance then the covered and al fresco eating area near the beach. By the way if you decide to go to Jimbaran be sure to use the toilet before or after your visit. The resto toilets are not for the faint of heart. =P

Our meal was grilled (2pcs) crab, (1kg) shrimps and (1kg) clams. We asked for everything grilled with their special sauce and made sure to tell them not to make it spicy. (Trust me on this – unless you are Indonesian or from another super spicy loving country.)

They serve it with an assortment of sauces but THE BEST thing is to get some ketsup manis (sweet soy sauce) and garlic sauce, mix them together then dip your seafood – POOM! It’s a party in your tastebuds I tell you!
