BALI BITES: Nyoman’s Cafe Jimbaran

August 10, 2011

We love eating cheap grilled seafood in Bali. For this trip we wanted to try Warung Menega Jimbaran because we’ve eaten in Warung Menega Lombok and I kid you not, it was the best meal I’ve ever had in Indonesia. (It was not fancy at all – just monoblock chairs and tables under a hut and fresh grilled seafood. But what made it different aside from the marinade of the seafood was the different sauces that accompanied it.) Since it closed early (that means they are good because they ran out of seafood for the day) they recommended that we try Nyoman’s Cafe instead!

It’s always enjoyable to eat by the sea at night, with the twinkling city lights at the distance and the fresh sea breeze. (Yay no mosquitos!)

We ordered crabs, clams, squid fish and jumbo prawns (I prefer this to King prawns because with King prawns I feel like we’re paying mainly for the head which is nothing) and had them all  bakar (grilled) with their special sauce and asked them not to make it too spicy. We try never to forget to make this request because by default food here is always spicy. The hit is always the clams!

I would definitely recommend Nyoman’s Cafe if I can’t get to Warung Menega or Radja Cafe!

I agree, Menega is a good one in the south of Jimbaran bay. My favourite at Jimbaran bay is at the opposite side, at the northern-most section: Bawang Merah at Kelan beach.. Frankly bit more expensive than Menega but they offer higher standards in hospitality and food quality.
