We chose to stay in Misibis Bay during our visit to my Father-in-laws province Bicol because it’s the best resort hotel in Bicol.

DIPLOTIP: It’s super important to bring your own nausea meds and/or SEA-BANDS whenever you go to Bicol coz of the winding roads.
DEPARTURE FROM MANILA AIRPORT
Let’s start with our Philippine Airlines flight via the old NAIA airport. I honestly can’t remember the last time I was here but it was really crowded and depressing. Thank goodness we found seats coz of my senior in-laws and our sleepy toddler.

The flight itself was pleasant and even if the airplane was old, the seats were comfy.

BICOL AIRPORT
Wow what a view to get off the plane to! The majestic Mayon Volcano which is famous for out perfect cone shape.

The airport is small and clean.

WINDING ROADS + PROVINCIAL SCENES
Driving anywhere in Bicol is hard if you have motion sickness like I do. So always bring medication or wear Sea-bands if you are going to Bicol. The views from high points were stunning and it was fun seeing provincial scenes and explaining it to DiploBaby.

The roads were quite well-made

Tricycles and kids playing by the road.

Poor piggy about to be eaten

3-4 people fitting into one motorbike

I was reminiscing about my childhood surrounded by coconut plantations

An old man expertly hanging on to a tricycle full of water and cases of empty bottles. #onlyinthephilippines

Dogs napping on the road and the cars/tricycles have to avoid them

How many people can you fit into one tricycle?!?

MISIBIS BAY CHECK IN
I have to say that although there was nobody else with us check-in in Misibis Bay takes quite a while. Good thing they have a beautiful airy reception filled with sunshine with comfy seating to wait.

CHECKING OUT
The driver from Misibis bay was just as scenic, winding & long so while we were checking out, I asked for nausea medicine from their clinic and was more prepared this time!

DiploBaby begged for some Pringles from their store to tide him over while waiting to check out.

We rode Cebu Pacific going back to Manila.

I found it super curious that one of the repeating advertisements on the TV in the pre-departure waiting area was for Armor Protection for cars and Bulletproofing vehicles. This really says a lot about the country we live in where guns are common. But this also got me a bit worried for security and safety in Bicol if a bullet proofing business is needed there!

We were happy to be going back to Manila as TD was not feeling so great.
