Two MICHELIN Star Restaurant Facil

July 19, 2015

This restaurant is definitely worth a visit when you are in Berlin. Book ahead because it’s hard to get a table without booking in advance because the price is very reasonable for a 2 MICHELIN STAR restaurant. Another thing worth mentioning is the divine interiors. I loved it so much!

I love the glass & bamboo walkway going into the restaurant space. I wish I took a picture! It felt like going through a forest.

Once inside the full glass walls made us feel like we were outside under the trees.

The huge skylight inside made for a spectacularly bright interior.

Excited to eat!

Love the gold chargers!

Special tiny stools for ladies’ bags! I love it!

The fancy menu

#DIPLOTIP: Put the napkin diagonally so I can place one corner under the plate so it doesn’t slip off the table and the opposite corner folded down over my belly for easy wiping.

Since I can’t have wine I’m having apple & elderberry juice. The freshly baked bread with the butter, dip, and salt was scrumptious!

FIRST COURSE

I love these plates with tiny little bowls in the center for a small appetizer. They make the best plates in Germany because it’s the first country to start producing white gold (porcelain) outside of China.

SECOND COURSE

The second course was an asparagus course. Something we discovered and truly enjoyed while living in Berlin. The organic asparagus is so much more flavorful. YUM.

Stunning plate!

THIRD COURSE

Our main courses was meat & risotto/

Dessert

The desserts were works of art and just the combination of all the elements was perfection in a bite.

The ice cream looks too beautiful to eat, doesn’t it?

COFFEE

I’m allowed one cup of coffee a day and after this amazing meal I needed it. It came with cute tiny muffins!

SKYLIGHT

At some point in the meal they opened the skylight for some air, but then it started raining again so they had to close it. I’ve never seen such a thing before. So high-tech and cool!

LADIES ROOM

Even going to the ladies’ room is an experience! So many flowers! I loved all the interiors of the restaurant including the bathroom!

TOILET ETIQUETTE

One bathroom etiquette I learned in Berlin is after wiping your hands on a towel, wipe the water around the sink so that it’s nice and dry for the next person who will be using it. It’s so thoughtful right? But that’s assuming you have a towel to wipe with.

BATHROOM SELFIE

I’m about 2 months before my due date here. I actually lost weight during my pregnancy because my cravings were so healthy and I couldn’t eat any junk food. My body just rejected it. I also continued my regular activities and lots of walking.

If you have the chance, I highly recommend eating in FACIL in Berlin. It’s a first-class experience from beginning to the end. I might not remember the names of the food, but I just remember that EVERYTHING WAS AMAZING!
